Summary: This study surveyed 2383 older adults aged 65-75 who had not received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The study found that vaccination willingness was associated with factors such as vaccination beliefs, gender, age, education level, and forgetfulness. The results show the importance of informing older adults about the risks of not being vaccinated and the potential benefits of additional doses in reducing mortality rates.

Summary: Maintaining good health in old age is crucial for alleviating societal, economic, and healthcare challenges caused by aging populations. Preventing infections through vaccination is an important measure to ensure healthy aging and preserve quality of life for older adults. Ongoing research is focused on improving vaccines, developing universal vaccines, and increasing awareness for life-long vaccination to protect the vulnerable older age group.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the coverage of COVID-19 vaccination and its cognitive determinants among older adults in China. A survey was conducted among 725 Chinese older adults, and the results showed that the vaccination rate was 78.3%. The vaccinated group had better internal risk perception, knowledge of COVID-19 vaccines, and a more positive attitude toward their efficacy and safety compared to the unvaccinated group.

Summary: The study aimed to explore the factors influencing vaccine uptake and the impact of COVID-19 on vaccine uptake among community-dwelling older adults in Singapore. Living arrangement was found to be a significant contributing factor, with those living alone more likely to be vaccinated. Key enablers for vaccine uptake included avoidance of infection and transmission, as well as healthcare professionals' advice, while barriers included concerns about side effects, vaccine effectiveness, and lack of information. Greater public health efforts and information provision by healthcare professionals are needed to encourage vaccine uptake, especially during COVID-19.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between individuals' knowledge, attitude, and daily behavioral practices related to COVID-19 (KAP) and their susceptibility to PTSD. The results showed that poor knowledge, negative attitude, and lack of preventative practices were associated with higher vulnerability to PTSD. Positive attitude and good compliance with preventative practices predicted vaccine acceptance and willingness to participate in voluntary testing. Good knowledge of COVID-19 predicted engagement in testing but had little association with vaccine acceptance.

Summary: In the Coachella Valley, among HIV-positive individuals aged 50 and older, 75% expressed acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccine. Those with lower vaccine acceptability rates were typically younger, experienced higher levels of HIV-related stigma and depression, and had lower levels of personal mastery.

Summary: The study aimed to describe the vaccination rates in volunteers from three regions of Argentina during the COVID-19 pandemic. A survey of 3853 adults in 2020 found that the influenza vaccination rate was 37.7%, pneumococcal vaccination rate was 24.7%, and both vaccines were received by 17.8% of the participants. The study showed suboptimal vaccination rates among high-risk patients in Argentina and highlighted the potential neglect of immunizations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Summary: This study reports an outreach program in Singapore that aimed to increase the COVID-19 vaccination uptake among older adults through phone conversations addressing vaccine hesitancy. The program successfully increased the vaccination rate from 84.6% to 96.3% among the targeted population.

Summary: This review identifies the causes of vaccine hesitancy related to the COVID-19 and influenza vaccines. The findings suggest that concerns over safety, lack of trust, lack of need for vaccination, and cultural reasons contribute to vaccine hesitancy. Scientific knowledge and the size of clinical trials can reduce vaccine hesitancy, but pharmaceutical companies are not trusted sources of information.

Summary: This study evaluated the cost-effectiveness of different influenza vaccines under the Korean National Immunization Program for different age groups. The results showed that the high-dose quadrivalent vaccine (HD-QIV) was the most cost-effective choice for adults aged 65 years or older. For other high-risk age groups, the introduction of influenza vaccine programs, whether using the traditional trivalent vaccine (TIV) or quadrivalent vaccine (QIV), was cost-effective.

Summary: MF59(R)-adjuvanted trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (aIIV3) and high-dose trivalent inactivated influenza vaccine (HD-IIV3) demonstrate enhanced immune response in older adults compared to standard, quadrivalent inactivated influenza vaccines (IIV4). The study shows that aIIV3 is more effective than IIV4 in preventing influenza-related medical encounters in both the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 seasons, with HD-IIV3 showing comparable effectiveness.

Summary: The fear of COVID-19 infection is widespread among older adults in Poland. Information campaigns are crucial in promoting mass vaccination against COVID-19, but success depends on vaccination coverage. This study aimed to assess COVID-19 anxiety severity and vaccine attitudes among older adults. Findings showed that COVID-19 anxiety was moderate, with seniors more likely to have positive vaccine attitudes. efforts should be made to motivate and encourage preventive vaccination in this age group.

Summary: Vaccines have been successful in controlling infectious diseases, but influenza and COVID-19 vaccines face challenges due to the variability of the viral proteins. Immune imprinting and repeated vaccinations can negatively influence vaccine effectiveness, and co-administration of multiple vaccines can also interfere with their effectiveness. Future development of COVID-19 vaccines should focus on inducing cross-reactive T-cell responses and naive B-cell responses, while the strategy of co-administering influenza and COVID-19 vaccines needs more careful consideration and further clinical data.
