Parallel implementation and optimization of high definition video real-time dehazing

In some warning applications, such as aircraft taking-off and landing, ship sailing, and traffic guidance in foggy weather, the high definition (HD) and rapid dehazing of images and videos is increasingly necessary. Existing technologies for the dehazing of videos or images have not completely exploited the parallel computing capacity of modern multi-core CPU and GPU, and leads to the long dehazing time or the low frame rate of video dehazing which cannot meet the real-time requirement. In this paper, we propose a parallel implementation and optimization method for the real-time dehazing of the high definition videos based on a single image haze removal algorithm. Our optimization takes full advantage of the modern CPU+GPU architecture, which increases the parallelism of the algorithm, and greatly reduces the computational complexity and the execution time. The optimized OpenCL parallel implementation is integrate into FFmpeg as an independent module. The experimental results show that for a single image, the performance of the optimized OpenCL algorithm is improved approximately 500% compared with the existing algorithm, and approximately 153% over the basic OpenCL algorithm. The 1080p (1920 x 1080) high definition hazy video can also processed at a real-time rate (more than 41 frames per second).

Active Disturbance Rejection Control for Wind Turbine Fatigue Load

Research on credit scoring method matching the probability of default: evidence from Lending Club

Summary: This study addresses the mismatch problem between borrowers' credit scoring and the probability of default (PD) in credit loan decision-making practice. It proposes a credit scoring indicator system by selecting a single indicator with strong default identification ability using the Wald test and determining the optimal combination of indicators with overall default identification ability using Lasso-Logistic regression. The empirical work conducted on Lending Club samples confirms the effectiveness of the proposed credit scoring method. The findings of this study provide references for assisting credit loan decision-making, reducing investment risks for bankers, and alleviating financing problems for borrowers.

A numerical study on damage characteristics in composite tapered laminates under cyclic loading with different stress ratios

Summary: The design of tapered composite fan blades with increased thickness near the root helps carry the load, but also introduces material and geometric discontinuities that can lead to interlayer stresses and damage initiation. A study using high-fidelity finite element modeling and a constitutive equation found that the maximum damage index occurs at the ply interface and resin pocket of the laminates. Static damage and weak-link index assessment were proposed to predict the location of fatigue damage. The study also found that fatigue crack growth rates are sensitive to cyclic loading at the first natural frequency and the weak-link zone appears in the crack growth area.

Experimental Study on Grouting Diffusion Law of the Different Crack Widths in Tunnel Lining

Summary: This study investigated the diffusion shape and the relation between diffusion radius and time of grouting in tunnel lining cracks. The diffusion equation of grouting in lining cracks was established, and the correlation between experimental and calculated values was analyzed. The results showed that the diffusion shape in tunnel lining cracks can be categorized into circular, excessive, and elliptical zones, and the diffusion equation accurately describes the relationship between diffusion radius and time. These findings provide a theoretical basis for predicting diffusion radius in grouting repair for tunnel lining cracks.

Prevalence and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella and the enumeration of ESBL E. coli in dairy farms in Hubei Province, China

Summary: The prevalence and antimicrobial resistance of Salmonella and ESBL-producing E. coli in healthy lactating dairy cows in Hubei Province, China was investigated in this study. Salmonella was found in 5.2% of sampled cows, with a herd prevalence of 20.0%. ESBL E. coli was detected in all farms, with an animal level prevalence of 59.1% and more than 104 CFU/g of feces. These findings provide valuable information for controlling Salmonella in Hubei Province.

A new type of generic, self-evolving and efficient automated deduction algorithm based on category theory

Summary: This article presents a new type of automated statement proof algorithm that is generalized, self-evolving, and efficient, using new data structures (brackets and map graphs) and algorithms. The brackets structure provides a concise representation of mathematical concepts, while the map graphs enable the computer to learn while proving using an efficient machine-learning method. Transcriptomic analysis of Listeria monocytogenes biofilm formation at different times

Summary: This study used transcriptomics to analyze differential gene expression between biofilm and planktonic bacteria at different stages of biofilm formation and growth in Listeria monocytogenes. They identified a significant number of differentially expressed genes and demonstrated changes associated with various biological processes and pathways. The expression of the top upregulated and downregulated genes was validated through real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction. These findings lay the foundation for further research on biofilm formation mechanisms and the development of biofilm inhibitors to reduce LM infection risk.
