Summary: This study aims to review and compare the management and outcomes of infant MMC-associated hydrocephalus in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) and high-income countries. The study will involve a systematic review and meta-analysis of relevant studies. The findings will contribute to improving the management of infant hydrocephalus in LMICs.

Summary: This scoping review explores the needs of relatives of patients with brain injuries or brain tumors, highlighting the importance of their involvement. It aims to identify and map interventions that facilitate and enhance relative involvement throughout the disease trajectory. The review will consider studies describing interventions provided by healthcare professionals and will collect data on various aspects of the interventions.

Summary: This is a pilot randomized controlled trial to determine the feasibility of whether treatment (with neurosurgery or stereotactic radiosurgery) or no treatment improves outcome for people diagnosed with a cavernoma. The study aims to recruit approximately 60 children or adults in the UK or Ireland and evaluate the feasibility and primary clinical outcome of the treatments. The findings will be disseminated to participants and the public.

Summary: This study aimed to identify predictors of 90-day mortality in acute ischemic stroke patients treated with mechanical thrombectomy. The results showed that symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage, high post-thrombectomy NIHSS score, high NIHSS score on admission, and high glucose level at hospital arrival were significant independent predictors of mortality. Smoking may also be associated with mortality, but further research is needed to confirm this.

Summary: Elevated tone is a common problem in children with physical disabilities. Neurosurgical interventions, including selective dorsal rhizotomy, intrathecal baclofen, and deep brain stimulation, are commonly used to manage posture and tone. These interventions vary in their effectiveness and side effects, and there is a lack of clarity on which intervention is best for certain populations of children.

Summary: This study evaluated the performance and robustness of geometric risk parameters on two datasets and compared it to the uncertainty inherent in assessing these parameters and quantified interparameter correlations. The results showed that non-dimensional parameters and a few parameters from other groups were comparatively robust and might generalize better to other datasets.

Summary: The study shows that spontaneous intracranial hypotension is a highly disabling disorder that affects multiple domains, including pain, mobility, daily activities, financial circumstances, and employment. Diagnostic delay and misdiagnosis are common, and there is currently a lack of consistency in the investigation and management of this condition in the UK.

Summary: This study presents a scoping review on the management and outcomes of intracranial fungal infections in Africa, using Arksey and O'Malley's framework. Multiple electronic bibliographic databases will be searched, and the extracted quantitative and qualitative data will be presented through descriptive statistics and narrative description. The findings will be disseminated through publication in a peer-reviewed medical journal and presentation at various conferences.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the association between intraprocedural blood pressure variability (BPV) and outcomes in patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) following mechanical thrombectomy (MT) with general anaesthesia. The results demonstrated that increased intraprocedural systolic blood pressure variability was independently associated with poor functional outcome. However, the independent association between intraprocedural BPV and parenchymal haemorrhage at 24 hours was not established in this study.

Summary: This study examined the publication patterns of pediatric neurology articles in general pediatric, general neurology, and neurology subspecialty journals using a bibliometric approach. The results showed that child neurology articles were more frequently published in pediatric journals compared to general neurology and neurology subspecialty journals. In general pediatric journals, neurology-based articles were published more frequently than other specialties.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the nature and prevalence of spin in neurosurgical trauma literature by analyzing randomized clinical trials. It will identify associated factors to guide future research practice recommendations. The study will use standard statistical analysis to present characteristics of the trials and determine variables strongly associated with spin.

Summary: At the end of the 1950s, Pierre Wertheimer established the Pierre Wertheimer Neurological and Neurosurgical Hospital in Lyon, which served as a center for neuroscience, combining hospital and training facilities. The hospital's structure focused on spatial unity, specialized fields, a large patient population, structured training, and cross-communication between areas. The hospital made significant contributions to functional neurosurgery, pain surgery, physiology, epilepsy surgery, and spasticity surgery, fostering collaboration between different teams and laying the groundwork for a neuroscientific doctoral school.

Summary: Neurocritical care is a rapidly developing subspecialty within intensive care medicine aimed at improving outcomes of critically ill neurological patients, but the global expansion is variable and the clear benefits in terms of patient outcomes are yet to be determined. A systematic review and meta-analysis will compare the specialized neurocritical care units or services with general units to assess their impact on patient survival.
