Summary: New research has shown that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play crucial roles in various biological processes, including the development of complex human diseases like cancer. Although the specific regulation mechanisms of many lncRNAs in cancer are still unknown, a few have been identified. This study provides a summary of recent advances in understanding the mechanisms and functions of lncRNAs in cancer, with a focus on their roles as oncogenes and tumor suppressors, as well as their potential use as biomarkers for cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

Summary: This study identified differentially expressed lncRNAs and genes in Kawasaki disease (KD), as well as constructed ceRNA networks involving miRNAs and mRNAs. The study found specific lncRNAs (PSORS1C3, LINC00999, SNHG5) and genes (GATA3, SOD2, MAPK14, PPARG) that may play a key role in the pathogenesis and development of KD. Validation in a separate dataset showed that intravenous immunoglobulin treatment alleviated the deregulated RNA profiles in KD patients.

Summary: This study identified five plasma lncRNAs associated with stroke and all-cause mortality in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Among them, H19 was found to be significantly associated with stroke risk and adding it to the CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc score improved the predictive power of the model.

Summary: This study aimed to clarify the molecular regulatory mechanisms involved in T-cells responses in MS by exploring the lncRNA-associated ceRNA axes. The research identified a ceRNA regulatory relationship among SNHG1, hsa-miR-197-3p, YOD1, ZNF101 and downstream connected genes, potentially playing a role in the pathogenesis of MS. Pathway enrichment analysis showed that differentially expressed mRNAs were enriched in Protein processing in endoplasmic reticulum and Herpes simplex virus 1 infection pathways.

Summary: In this study, the expression profiles of lncRNAs in cashmere goat skin tissue were analyzed using RNA sequencing. The differentially expressed lncRNAs were found to be associated with cashmere fiber traits such as fiber follicle development, fiber diameter, and fiber color through their target genes involved in related signaling pathways.

Summary: In this study, a total of 16,452 lncRNAs were identified in tea plants under nitrogen stress and control conditions, of which 9,451 were differentially expressed lncRNAs (DE-lncRNAs). Co-expression clustering analysis revealed that nitrogen-responsive lncRNAs may be involved in various biological processes, including plant hormone signal transduction, nitrogen metabolism, and protein processing in the endoplasmic reticulum. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the potential regulation of lncRNAs on nitrogen stress and offer resources for improving the nitrogen use efficiency of tea plants.

Summary: Transcriptome complexity is a fascinating field, especially with the discovery of numerous non-coding RNA biotypes through high-throughput sequencing. This review focuses on antisense long non-coding RNAs and their role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Dysregulation of antisense lncRNAs significantly contributes to hepatocarcinogenesis, affecting tumor onset, progression, and treatment response. Understanding the mechanisms and functions of these RNA molecules is important for potential therapeutic targets and diagnostic tools.
