Summary: This study focused on the usability of scallop shell coated Fe2O3 nanoparticles as an eco-friendly new adsorbent in the treatment of tetracycline (TC). The results showed that at a solution pH of 7, a Fe2O3-scallop dosage of 1.6 g L-1, and a temperature of 25 degrees C, almost complete TC removal was achieved. The non-electrical pi-pi dispersion interaction between the absorbent surface and TC molecules was suggested as the responsible mechanism at this pH.

Summary: Co/Fe-MIL-100, which was modified by adding Co2+ in the synthesis process, showed satisfactory performance in removing tetracycline. It had high removal efficiency in the initial concentration range and could still remove a significant amount of tetracycline at higher concentrations. The coexistence of inorganic anion decreased the adsorption capacity of tetracycline, with CO32- having a more noticeable inhibitory effect than Cl-. The Langmuir model fitting had a higher correlation coefficient and the kinetics better fitted a pseudo-second-order reaction.

Summary: In this study, a high-performance porous adsorbent was prepared from biochar derived from walnut shells and effectively removed tetracycline (TC). The adsorbent exhibited a significantly increased specific surface area (SSA) and a maximum adsorption capacity for TC. It demonstrated high stability and reusability for TC adsorption under different conditions. The proposed adsorption mechanism involved pore filling, hydrogen bonding, p-p stacking, and electrostatic interaction. These findings have important implications for the development of biochar-based adsorbents for pollutant removal.

Summary: In this study, NiNb2O6 was hybridized with RGO using ultrasonic synthesis for visible light responsive photocatalysts. The 10 wt% RGO sample showed the highest activity for DOX and TC degradation. Hydroxyl radicals and holes were identified as the main reactive species, and a feasible charge transfer pathway was proposed to explain the formation of reactive species.

Summary: This paper synthesized hierarchically porous MIL-53(Cr) using in situ synthesis for the first time and investigated the influence of mesopores on tetracycline adsorption. The results showed that the high mesoporous volume improved the adsorption capacity of TC. Kinetic models were used to analyze the adsorption process, and it was found that the external mass transfer rate of TC on 20-AA-MIL-53(Cr) was significantly higher when the pore size was expanded. Additionally, the water stability test demonstrated the excellent water stability of 20-AA-MIL-53(Cr) for over 5 days.

Summary: This review summarizes the preparation and applications of high-performance magnetic adsorbents in the adsorption removal of environmental pollutants over the past three years. The improvements in preparation strategies for magnetic adsorbents and other composite materials with well-controlled microstructures are discussed. The prepared magnetic adsorbents have shown improved adsorption performance in removing organic pollutants, metal ions, and even emerging nano/microplastics. However, challenges still exist for magnetic adsorbents in the adsorption removal of these pollutants.
