Summary: The rapid proliferation of genomic tests has led to the use of health technology assessment (HTA) to distinguish valuable applications. This study reviews the HTA mechanisms for medical devices (MDs) in Italy at the national and regional levels and discusses the opportunity and benefits of extending them to genomic technologies. The National Health Technology Assessment Program for MDs has established a structured pathway for MDs, but its implementation has been hindered by various factors. Efforts should be made to ensure effective deployment of the HTA mechanisms, and resources should be concentrated on a single pathway for the assessment of MDs and genomic applications in order to harmonize institutional roles and methodologies.

Summary: Heavy metals in groundwater pose a serious threat to ecological safety and human health. By studying groundwater samples from a specific area, it was determined that industrial activities, agricultural activities, and arsenic (As) were the priority control factors for groundwater heavy metals. These findings are significant for policymakers in developing targeted strategies for managing heavy metal pollution in groundwater.

Summary: Technology-enabled services (TESs) are clinical interventions that combine technological and human components to provide health services. TESs for mental health have shown efficacy in treating anxiety and depression, but there is a need to improve cultural responsivity. Researchers propose a framework that provides specific recommendations for considering cultural responsivity at the technological component and human support levels, with the aim of ensuring that TESs are ethical and responsive for everyone.

Summary: This study assessed the challenges and acceptance of real-world data (RWD) in health technology assessment (HTA) organizations. The results showed that patient registries were the most accepted RWD source, while editorials and expert opinions were the least accepted. Lack of necessary RWD sources and existing policy structures were identified as the main barriers to accepting RWD.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate the perspectives on the adoption, scale-up, sustainability, and spread of technology-supported models of nutrition care in hospital and ambulatory care settings. The findings suggest that these models can benefit chronic condition patients, with dietitians being well-suited to adopt this technology. The value proposition lies in the efficiency gains it brings to the health service. However, challenges of transitioning and sustainability were identified.

Summary: This study aims to propose an implementation roadmap for HTA in Egypt based on the current healthcare system status. The survey and interviews conducted with healthcare sector decision-makers and experts suggest the need for capacity-building programs, establishment of HTA units, and the use of innovative tools such as MCDA. The study also recommends local burden of diseases and costing studies to facilitate HTA implementation.

Summary: Adaptive Health Technology Assessment (aHTA) is a method used in situations where time constraints, certainty, and low budget impact are factors. It can support decision-making more quickly and efficiently, reduce duplication, but currently lacks standardization, transparency, and measurement of uncertainty.

Summary: This study reevaluated patients' satisfaction with primary care physicians and clinics in Israel, comparing the results to a survey from 1999. The study found a significant reduction in patient satisfaction, particularly in areas related to emotional support and explanations about referrals and workup plans. The decrease in satisfaction highlights the need for further exploration and attention to this issue in primary care.

Summary: This study aimed to identify acceptable solutions for reducing the spread of brucellosis among the Arab community in Israel. Through qualitative interviews and focus groups, a variety of solutions were proposed, including free veterinary visits, increased control on illegal animal trade, insurance for flocks, and support for small businesses. A multifaceted approach combining public awareness, disease reporting, infrastructure improvements, and livestock surveillance is needed to effectively reduce disease spread.

Summary: By comparing patient survey data with administrative data, this study explores the relationship between self-reported waiting time and objectively measured waiting time. The results show similar trends in waiting time using both methods, but the survey data reports longer waiting times. Routine computation of waiting time from administrative data can save time and resources, while surveys can provide a deeper understanding of the patient experience.

Summary: The incidence of end-stage renal disease (ESRD) is higher in Israel than the European average. Socio-economic factors and ethnicity, particularly Arab ethnicity, are associated with an increased risk of ESRD, especially due to diabetes. Allocation of health resources and culturally appropriate interventions are necessary to improve control of modifiable risk factors for chronic renal failure.

Summary: A questionnaire was developed to evaluate the patient journey in Israel's public healthcare system. The survey revealed that 57% of adults needed to see a specialist in the last 6 months, and 82% of them were able to visit a specialist. Long waiting time was the main reason for not making an appointment. Younger and more educated patients were more likely to try to get an earlier appointment.

Summary: The Project Zero Exposure intervention program aimed at helping parents protect children from tobacco smoke exposure did not show a significant difference in child hair nicotine levels between the intervention group and the regular control group after six months. However, both groups showed a decrease in child TSE during the trial. Further investigation is warranted to determine the effectiveness of biomarker monitoring in reducing child TSE.
