Summary: This study compared the features of pigmented cells in naevi and melanomas under D400 magnification dermoscopy, finding that melanomas had more distinct features at D400. The results suggest that D400 may be helpful in the diagnosis of melanoma.

Summary: The clinical value of an expert pathological review in patients with an atypical melanocytic lesion diagnosis remains unclear. In a prospective clinical study, it was found that there were disagreements between referral diagnosis and expert review, with a significant impact on patient management, especially in cases of major discrepancies.

Summary: This study presents an unusual case of monkeypox infection, where a patient simultaneously showed skin lesions at three different stages of evolution in the same location. Contrary to expectations, this unique clinical presentation highlights the importance for physicians to be vigilant of atypical initial symptoms and lesion evolution, and to conduct comprehensive epidemiological surveys.

Summary: The incidence of celiac disease is increasing due to both improved recognition and a real increase of the disorder. The reasons for this true rise are unclear, but may be related to environmental factors. Early-life gluten exposure is a major focus of prevention efforts.

Summary: A man in his 50s presented to plastic surgery again with a lesion on his left upper arm, after previously being treated for a malignant melanoma (MM) on his right arm over 5 years earlier. Imaging indicated a suspicious intramuscular soft tissue malignancy within the triceps muscle. Histopathology confirmed a diagnosis of metastatic MM, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the disease and the importance of investigating soft tissue masses in patients with a history of cutaneous malignancy.

Summary: This study proposes a framework for automated early melanoma diagnosis using sequential dermoscopic images. By aligning images, extracting lesion growth regions, and constructing a spatio-temporal network, accurate diagnosis of melanoma is achieved. Experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms other commonly used models in the early diagnosis of melanoma, with higher diagnostic accuracy and earlier diagnosis time compared to clinicians.

Summary: More than 35 amyloid precursor proteins have been identified, with many having affinity for the kidneys. Renal amyloidosis, most commonly seen in AL and AA amyloidosis, is characterized by proteinuria and progressive renal dysfunction. Successful management involves targeting the underlying amyloid process and providing supportive care.

Summary: The diagnostic approach for adulthood parkinsonism is challenging when atypical features make it difficult to classify into Parkinson's disease or atypical parkinsonian syndromes (APS). This study retrospectively analyzed patients with a diagnosis of atypical APS and complex parkinsonism, and found distinctive non-neurodegenerative etiologies causing atypical and complex parkinsonism. Accurate clinical identification and distinction between neurodegenerative and non-neurodegenerative parkinsonism etiologies will allow for refining clinical trials. Rating: 8/10.
