Summary: The existing systematic reviews have not fully described the differences in cardiac and renal effects between ultrafiltration and diuretics as methods of decongestion in acute decompensated heart failure. This meta-analysis aimed to investigate the impact of ultrafiltration compared to diuretics on prognostic cardiac and renal biomarkers. A total of 10 randomized trials were included in the analysis, and the results showed no significant difference between ultrafiltration and diuretics in terms of cardiac and renal biomarkers, except for short-term blood urea nitrogen which showed a statistically higher increase with ultrafiltration. Overall, ultrafiltration has a similar impact as diuretic therapy on prognostic cardiac and renal biomarkers.

Summary: Ultrasensitively selective detection of trace polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) like phenanthrene (PHE) is achieved by constructing atomically dispersed Zn sites on g-C3N4 nanosheets through thermal polymerization of a Zn-cyanuric acid-melamine supramolecular precursor. The resulting sZn-CN exhibits a wide detection range, ultralow detection limit, and ultrahigh selectivity toward PHE based on the PHE-CN dual ratiometric fluorescence method. The superior detection performance is attributed to the selective adsorption of PHE on the atomic Zn(II)-N-5 sites and the fluorescence quenching mechanism involving the inner filter effect (IFE) and photogenerated electron-transfer process.

Summary: CsPbCl3 and Mn:CsPbCl3 nanocrystals were synthesized using a simple hot-injection method. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed the presence of Cs, Mn, Pb, and Cl elements, indicating successful doping of Mn2+ into CsPbCl3 nanocrystals. Temperature-dependent photoluminescence spectroscopy showed that Mn:CsPbCl3 nanocrystals had a higher exciton binding energy, suggesting a stronger third-order nonlinear optical effect. Closed-aperture and open-aperture Z-scan tests revealed that both CsPbCl3 and Mn:CsPbCl3 nanocrystals were self-focusing media. The open-aperture Z-scan test showed that Mn:CsPbCl3 nanocrystals had a higher two-photon absorption coefficient, 4.5 times higher than that of pure CsPbCl3 nanocrystals.

Summary: A lead-free double perovskite Cs2AgBiBr6 nanocrystal/mesoporous black TiO2 composite was prepared and applied for photocatalytic selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde at normal temperature and pressure. The composite exhibited a conversion rate of 75% and selectivity of 99%, surpassing those of single Cs2AgBiBr6 nanocrystals and black TiO2. The formation of a Z-type heterogeneous structure between Cs2AgBiBr6 nanocrystals and black TiO2 effectively promoted the separation and transfer of electrons and holes, leading to excellent photocatalytic activity. Carbon-centered radicals were identified as key intermediates during the catalytic process of benzyl alcohol dehydrogenation. This work provides practical suggestions for the fabrication of benzyl alcohol selective oxidation photocatalysts.

Summary: Sensitive and selective optoelectronic detection of NO2 at ultralow concentration (ppb-level) remains challenging. In this study, Ni metal-organic frameworks/CN nanosheet heterojunctions were fabricated by electrostatic induced assembly and post-alkali etching. The optimized heterojunction exhibited a detection limitation of 1 ppb for NO2, along with outstanding selectivity and long-term stability. The superior performance was attributed to enhanced charge transfer and separation at the heterojunction interface, as well as favorable adsorption of NO2 by unsaturated Ni(II) sites.

Summary: Na+-doped Cs2AgBiBr6 NCs with monodisperse cubic morphology and homogeneous structure are prepared by a colloidal synthesis strategy. The doping of Na+ breaks the inversion-symmetry-induced parity-forbidden transition, changing the wave function parity of self-trapped excitons and leading to a higher PLQY (9.08%) and longer exciton lifetime (17.15 ns) compared to Cs2AgBiBr6 NCs. Moreover, Na+ doping elevates the optical phonon energy and exciton binding energy, resulting in improved thermal stability and potential applications in optoelectronic devices.

Summary: A spherical magnetic adsorbent polymer (TTCA/THT@Fe3O4) was synthesized using a two-step hydrothermal method, trithiocyanuric acid (TTCA), 2,4,6-trihydrazino-1,3,5-triazine (THT), and Fe3O4. The polymer showed high adsorption capacity for Cr(VI) in wastewater, reaching up to 1340 mgg(-1) under optimal conditions. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and density functional theory were used to investigate the mechanism behind the adsorption performance, attributing it to the formation of Cr/N and Cr/S coordination bonds. The polymer demonstrated excellent adsorption performance, easy magnetic separation, and promising application for actual wastewater.

Summary: Negative future thinking is common in emotional disorders. This study tested an online cognitive-bias-modification program consisting of four sessions to train individuals to have more positive predictions about the future. Results showed that participants who received positive training had improved negative expectancy bias, positive expectancy bias, and self-efficacy compared to the control group. Positive training was also more effective than 50/50 training in improving expectancy bias and optimism. Although improvements attenuated over time, they were still present at the 1-month follow-up. Surprisingly, participants in all conditions showed comparable improvements in anxiety, depression symptoms, and growth mindset. These findings suggest that targeting a transdiagnostic process with a scalable program may improve cognitive biases and outlook, but further validation of outcome measures is needed.

Summary: Researchers used the smaller Cas13X.1 protein to construct an editing system in mammalian cells, aiming to overcome the delivery limitations of the CRISPR-Cas13 system and promote its use in clinical therapy. The Cas13X.1 system efficiently degraded target genes and did not affect cell morphology, RNA integrity, or apoptosis. It has strong RNA knockdown ability in mammalian cells with low toxicity and offers advantages in in vivo delivery compared to other CRISPR-Cas 13 systems. This system also provides an alternative method for studying anti-cancer therapy.
