Summary: SFTS is an emerging infectious disease with high fatality, constructing a transmission model helps in disease control, and cutting off the environmental transmission route has the greatest effect on preventing and controlling SFTS according to the model.

Summary: This study investigates the disease characteristics, genetic diversity, and the relationship between viral mutations and disease severity of SFTSV in Hubei Province by surveying and recruiting 202 SFTS patients from 2018 to 2022. The study identifies at least six prevalent genotypes of SFTSV and reveals a complex genotype diversity with changing dominant genotypes over time. Phylogenetic analysis indicates frequent genetic exchange, including reassortment and recombination strains. Despite limitations in sample size, the SFTSV C1 genotype may be associated with higher mortality and elevated levels of the inflammatory marker serum amyloid A (SAA). This study provides important insights into the disease characteristics and viral diversity of SFTSV in Hubei Province, highlighting the need for monitoring viral mutations and their impact on disease severity.

Summary: This study identified abnormalities in serum lipid metabolism among SFTS patients. HDL-c and ApoAI levels hold potential as biomarkers for distinguishing survivors from non-survivors. Additionally, HDL-c and ApoAI may serve as therapeutic targets for the management of SFTS patients.

Summary: The annual incidence of Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) in Liaoning Province has been increasing year on year. The incidence of SFTS is influenced by various meteorological factors, including monthly average air pressure, monthly average temperature, and monthly average wind speed.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of tick density and meteorological factors on the transmission routes of SFTS. It found that sunshine duration, relative humidity, temperature, and tick density are important factors affecting the occurrence of SFTS. Hurricanes have a short-term effect in reducing the incidence of SFTS, but little effect in the long term. The most effective intervention to reduce the incidence of SFTS is to reduce population exposure to high-risk environments.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the possible transmission route of an outbreak cluster in east China. The research identified the risk factors for SFTSV transmission, such as blood and aerosol contact, and confirmed the association between exposure to a poorly ventilated space and contact with contaminated items and SFTSV infection.

Summary: By analyzing clinical diagnosis reports of 30 SFTS cases, it was found that there was an excessive proliferation of monoclonal plasma cells (MCP cells, CD38+cLambda+cKappa-) in the bone marrow, which has only been observed in multiple myeloma before. The ratio of CD38+cLambda+ to CD38+cKappa+ in SFTS cases with MCP cells was significantly higher than in normal cases. MCP cells exhibited transient expression in the bone marrow, which differed from multiple myeloma. SFTS patients with MCP cells also showed higher clinical severity. Additionally, MCP cell overproliferation was observed in SFTS virus (SFTSV)-infected mice with lethal doses. Overall, SFTSV infection induces transient overproliferation of monoclonal lambda-type plasma cells, which has important implications for studying SFTSV pathogenesis, prognosis, and therapeutic development.

Summary: The study found that SARS-CoV-2 may have emerged in Hubei province, China between mid-October and mid-November 2019. The dynamics of the virus before discovery showed that over two-thirds of SARS-CoV-2-like zoonotic events would self-limit, without causing a pandemic. The study highlights shortcomings in current zoonosis surveillance methods.

Summary: This study analyzed the epidemiological distribution, clinical characteristics, and prognostic risk factors of patients with severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS). The majority of patients were farmers and the peak season for SFTS cases was from April to November. Age, diabetes mellitus, coronary heart disease, platelet count, and viral nucleic acid loading were identified as risk factors for poor prognosis in severe patients.

Monetary incentives alone may be more cost-effective, but the combined intervention has larger effects on promoting HIV testing in this population.

Summary: The awareness and willingness of MSM to use PrEP varied among countries with different economic status, and the main facilitators for willingness to use PrEP were PrEP awareness, high perceived risk of HIV infection and influence of social network. The proportions of PrEP awareness and willingness to use PrEP among MSM have increased since 2014, with higher willingness after 2014.

Summary: This study investigated the disclosure of sexual orientation among gay and bisexual men attending university in China and examined factors associated with disclosure. The results showed that men who served as student leaders and donated blood were more likely to disclose their sexual orientation, while men who had sex with a female and engaged in group sex were less likely to disclose. Mental health status and HIV/STI infections were not found to be associated with disclosure.

Summary: This study aimed to assess mpox knowledge and attitude towards mpox vaccination among male sex workers (MSW) in China. Results showed that 49.4% of the MSWs had good knowledge of mpox and 63.0% were willing to be vaccinated against it. Factors associated with good knowledge included being single, being unemployed, and willingness to be vaccinated. Age, history of chronic diseases, and agreement with prioritizing high-risk groups for vaccination were related to willingness to get vaccinated.
