Summary: This study aimed to determine the estimated pertussis incidence in adults and the need for a booster dose by detecting pertussis and diphtheria antibody levels in adults in Shaanxi province, China. The results showed that pertussis is not uncommon among adults and the existing surveillance system might have underestimated the true incidence of pertussis. Additionally, the diphtheria antibody levels decreased with age.

Summary: This study comprehensively analyzed the level of environmental health literacy (EHL) among residents in Shaanxi Province, China in 2020, and found that rural residents have significantly lower EHL compared to urban residents. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen education and popularization of basic environmental and health knowledge in key areas and populations, and conduct behavioral interventions based on population characteristics.

Summary: This study examined the socioeconomic and geographic disparities in terms of days to receive the first and second dose of COVID-19 vaccinations in Indonesia. The findings revealed significant delays in getting the first dose, especially among those of a lower socioeconomic status and those in more deprived areas. However, the waiting time for the second dose was relatively similar for everyone once they were in the system, except for disparities related to working in health facilities.

Summary: In this study, the perinatal mortality rate (PMR) of birth defects was analyzed and the relationship between birth defects and various factors was defined. The study included 1,619,376 fetuses, with a total of 30,596 birth defects and 18,212 perinatal deaths. The prevalence rate (PR) of birth defects was 18.89 per thousand, and the total PMR was 1.12%. Birth defects accounted for 42.0% of perinatal deaths, and the PMR of birth defects was 25.03%. There was a decreasing trend in the PMR of birth defects from 2010 to 2020. Congenital heart defects caused the most perinatal deaths, and the PMR was highest for encephalocele. Birth defects were more common in rural areas and among females. The PMR of birth defects decreased with increasing maternal age, income, education level, parity, and gestational age of termination.

Summary: This study aimed to estimate the population, probability of death, and quality of life in western China. Age-specific mortality rate and prevalence rate of diseases and injuries were calculated using population and medical record data. Various interpolation methods were used to fill in missing information in the death data, and the Kannisto model was used to adjust mortality rate for elderly individuals. Life expectancy was calculated using a life table, and quality of life was estimated using the Sullivan method.

Summary: This study evaluates the applicability of three satellite rainfall data sets (CMORPH, GPM, and TRMM) for predicting flood and landslide hazards using a coupled hydrological-slope stability model. The results demonstrate that these satellite rainfall data sets can simulate the spatial distribution of flood and landslide events well, and the physically based slope stability model has higher global accuracy compared to the classical intensity-duration rainfall threshold method, with GPM rainfall providing the highest quality among the three data sets.

Summary: This article summarizes the main characteristic form of urban-rural fringe area (URFa) and the measures of land and water comprehensive remediation, using the Sichuan River as an example. The results show that wasteland, low-efficiency land, and old deserted beach can be transformed into farm land, residential land, and ecological land through comprehensive land improvement. For river channels in URFa that frequently dry-off and are polluted, river bottom consolidation and water purification are important measures. The water quality meets environmental standards and water volume remains balanced after pollution treatment and remediation.
