Summary: We present a case of a 69-year-old female with prolonged fever who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT. The scan revealed subcutaneous nodules with increased 18F-FDG uptake on the thorax and upper extremities, as well as bilateral lung infiltrates due to organizing pneumonitis. Clinical examination confirmed erythema nodosum induced by COVID-19 infection. Prednisone treatment resulted in improvement of the erythema nodosum. This is the first report of COVID-19-induced erythema nodosum diagnosed on 18F-FDG PET/CT.

Summary: Erythema nodosum (EN) is a common form of panniculitis in children. It can be primary or secondary, with secondary cases associated with various conditions. The diagnosis is clinical, and basic work-up and further investigations should be performed based on the medical history and associated manifestations. EN has a favorable prognosis, and treatment should target the underlying condition if necessary.

Summary: Erythema nodosum and erythema induratum of Bazin are inflammatory diseases of the lower extremities that are clinically distinguishable but can overlap. Both diseases are reported to be related to Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection, and this study aimed to improve the detection rate of M. tuberculosis in skin lesions using a new nested polymerase chain reaction targeting the IS6110 sequence. The study found that testing for tuberculosis in patients with multiple tender subcutaneous nodules on their lower extremities is important in high-burden tuberculosis countries like Korea.

Summary: This article reports a case of erythema nodosum (EN) with a rare etiology of syphilis. The patient presented with a maculopapular rash and a hypodermic lesion, which were further investigated and ruled out other possible causes. The diagnosis of syphilis was made based on positive results and recovery after treatment. It is important to consider EN as a rare manifestation of syphilis, especially in the context of increasing cases among men who have sex with men in mainland France and heterosexuals on Reunion Island.

Summary: This article describes four cases of leprosy patients with chronic recalcitrant erythema nodosum leprosum (ENL) treated with cyclophosphamide pulse therapy. The pulse therapy resulted in partial or complete regression of symptoms and allowed for a reduction in medication dosage, effectively controlling the disease.

Summary: We present a rare case of Yersinia enterocolitica enteritis with initial symptoms of fever and abdominal pain followed by erythema nodosum. The diagnosis was confirmed through colonoscopy, computed tomography, pathology, and mucosal culture. Yersinia enteritis can be cured with proper diagnosis and treatment. Erythema nodosum, although uncommon, should still be considered as a possible differential diagnosis.

Summary: IGM is a mysterious inflammatory breast disorder that responds well to immunomodulatory treatment with methotrexate. Patients treated with methotrexate have the highest rates of relapse-free remission compared to those treated with steroids alone or steroids and surgery. Erythema nodosum and arthritis/arthralgia may be under-recognized manifestations of IGM when managed outside rheumatology settings.

Summary: The objective of this study was to improve testing rates for coccidioidomycosis (CM) in patients with pneumonia (PNA) in urgent care clinics. Analysis of medical records showed that although there was an increase in testing rates, over three quarters of pneumonia patients still did not receive CM testing.
