Summary: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of auraptene on inflammation and apoptosis of pneumonia cell model and uncover the mechanism involved. The results showed that auraptene promoted cell viability, inhibited cellular inflammation, and inhibited cell apoptosis. Mechanistically, auraptene inhibited the nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathway.

Summary: This research aimed to investigate the cytotoxic effects of Auraptene on HL60 and U937 cell lines. The results showed that Auraptene decreased cellular proliferation and induced oxidative stress in HL60 and U937 cells. Additionally, Auraptene induced cell cycle arrest and apoptosis by upregulating certain proteins. These findings suggest that Auraptene may be a promising anti-tumor agent against hematologic malignancies.

Summary: This study found that Saikosaponin D (SSD) can effectively protect cardiomyocytes from doxorubicin (DOX)-induced cardiotoxicity. SSD inhibits excessive oxidative stress and cell apoptosis by downregulating the p38-MAPK signaling pathway, providing a protective effect against DOX-induced cardiac damage.

Summary: Arabinogalactan (AG), a polysaccharide, has immunomodulatory, antioxidant, and intestinal conditioning activities. This study found that AG could alleviate cisplatin-induced intestinal damage by targeting the IRE1 alpha/JNK axis to inhibit apoptosis and restore the antioxidant defense system. Thus, AG may be a potential drug to prevent cisplatin-induced intestinal toxicity.

Summary: Pneumonia and other inflammatory diseases of the lungs share failures in efferocytosis as a common driver of inflammation and tissue destruction. Enhancing efferocytosis can help resolve inflammatory lung diseases and restore normal lung function. Treatments like corticosteroids and statins have been found to beneficially alter efferocytic activity in patients with these diseases.

Summary: In this study, it was found that beta-Elemene can inhibit the proliferation of oral squamous cell carcinoma cells and enhance their sensitivity to cisplatin. The main mechanism is by blocking the activation of the JAK/STAT3 signaling pathway. In addition, in vivo experiments demonstrated that the combination treatment of beta-Elemene and cisplatin can synergistically suppress tumor growth and induce cell apoptosis.

Summary: The study demonstrated that vandetanib could induce cutaneous toxicity by promoting apoptosis, activating autophagy, causing mitochondrial damage, and inducing DNA damage. Bisdemethoxycurcumin partially reversed vandetanib-induced keratinocyte apoptosis by activating autophagy, thereby ameliorating cutaneous toxicity.
