Summary: In the context of unsedated sigmoidoscopies with enema preparation performed by accredited endoscopists, there was no significant difference in patient-reported pain between CO2 and WAS techniques. The adenoma detection rate was slightly different between the two techniques, but both remained above the national performance standard. Cost difference between CO2 and WAS was negligible.

Summary: This study aims to determine whether an opportunistic smoking cessation intervention delivered in the emergency department can help daily smokers quit smoking and is cost-effective. The trial compares brief smoking cessation advice with provision of an e-cigarette and referral to local stop smoking services (intervention group) and provision of contact details for local stop smoking services (control group). Outcomes will be collected at 1, 3, and 6 months, with the primary outcome being carbon monoxide verified continuous smoking abstinence at 6 months.

Summary: This study compared the effect of inhaled nitrous oxide (INO) with 1% lidocaine paracervical infiltration and no analgesic in pain control during in-office hysteroscopy. The results showed that INO was as effective as 1% lidocaine in pain control and better tolerated by patients, while the no-analgesic group had the poorest results.

Summary: This study demonstrates that using McGrath videolaryngoscopy improves first-pass tracheal intubation success in patients having elective surgery compared with direct laryngoscopy. Randomly allocating 2092 adult patients without predicted difficult airway, this multicentre randomized trial found that the first-pass success rate was higher in the McGrath group (94%) compared with the direct laryngoscopy group (82%).

Summary: A trial conducted in low-income and middle-income countries did not demonstrate benefits of 2% alcoholic chlorhexidine skin preparation compared with povidone-iodine, or triclosan-coated sutures compared with non-coated sutures, in preventing surgical site infections in cleancontaminated or contaminated or dirty surgical wounds. Both interventions are more costly than alternatives, and these results do not endorse routine use.

Summary: The study found that endometrial scratching in women with one failed IVF/ICSI treatment resulted in 4.6% more live births in the scratch group compared to the control group, with a likely certainty range between -0.7% and +9.9%. Summary: A study in the Netherlands compared the freeze-all strategy with the conventional strategy in IVF treatments, and found that the conventional strategy had a higher cumulative ongoing pregnancy rate per woman. However, further research is needed to determine the efficacy of the freeze-all strategy in different patient subgroups and embryonic development stages, and to weigh the potential benefits and risks for mothers and children.

Summary: This study aims to develop and implement a core outcome set for ectopic pregnancy research, involving an international steering group and utilizing a modified Delphi method. Potential outcomes will be identified from published RCTs, and key stakeholders will be invited to prioritize these outcomes using a Likert scale. This process will lead to the establishment of standardized definitions and high-quality measurements for individual core outcomes.

Summary: Based on a systematic review and meta-analysis, natural cycle frozen embryo transfer (NC-FET) appears to be associated with a lower risk of adverse obstetric and neonatal outcomes compared to artificial cycle frozen embryo transfer (AC-FET). Furthermore, NC-FET with luteal phase support (LPS) may reduce the risk of preterm birth. Therefore, NC-FET should be the preferred treatment for women undergoing frozen embryo transfer. The use of LPS in NC-FET may decrease the risk of preterm birth, but more research is needed to determine its efficacy and safety.

Summary: The study compared obstetric and neonatal risks for women undergoing frozen-thawed embryo transfer during a modified natural cycle versus an artificial cycle. Results showed that women who conceived via modified natural cycle had a decreased risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy compared to those using artificial cycle. Other outcomes did not show significant differences between the two methods.

Summary: Based on the study, the 'freeze all' strategy may not have a significant difference compared to the conventional IVF/ICSI strategy in terms of cumulative live birth rate and ongoing pregnancy rate, but may have a lower risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. However, other risks such as maternal hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and having a large-for-gestational-age baby may increase with the 'freeze all' strategy.
