Summary: This study found a good convergent association between S-LANSS and PainDETECT in women with FMS. Additionally, S-LANSS was associated with PPTs whereas PainDETECT was associated with pain intensity and CSI, suggesting that both questionnaires assess different spectrums of the neuropathic and pain sensitization components of the condition and hence provide synergistic information.

Summary: The study aimed to replicate a previous finding that low fat intake in early childhood was linked to increased adiposity in adulthood, but the results did not support this. Instead, a positive association was found between high fat intake at 18 months and fat mass in boys at 9 years, with no association in girls. Additionally, fat intake was positively correlated with serum leptin concentration in boys, but not in girls.

Summary: The study found that postmenopausal overweight women with severe depression symptoms had higher levels of total and acylated ghrelin, and positive associations with acylated ghrelin and BMI. This is the first demonstration of an association between acylated ghrelin and the severity of depression symptoms in postmenopausal women, suggesting a potential physiological response or causal factor in this mental disorder.

Summary: This study investigated the association between living altitude and serum leptin concentrations. The results showed that native women living at high altitude had significantly lower serum leptin concentrations compared to those living at low altitude. Even after adjusting for age and body mass index, women living at high altitude still had lower leptin concentrations. These findings support the protective effect of living at high altitude in improving cardiovascular and metabolic outcomes.

Summary: This study investigated the association between changes in BMI and leptin and neuropsychological performance among middle-aged women. The results showed that increases in BMI and leptin over 10 years were associated with poorer performance in multiple domains of neuropsychological functioning among all women and women with HIV infection.

Summary: Perilipin 2 (PLIN2) is a protein involved in lipid storage and metabolism in non-adipose tissues and circulating PLIN2 (cPLIN2) has been associated with certain types of cancer. The levels of cPLIN2 do not change with age, but are higher in women than in men; they strongly correlate with BMI, fat and lean mass, and the proinflammatory adipokine leptin. This suggests that cPLIN2, possibly regulated by leptin, could be used as a proxy for body adiposity.

Summary: Obesity in childhood is associated with low-grade inflammation, which could be attributed to dysregulation in adipokines secretion. This study aimed to investigate the role of leptin levels in the association between body mass index (BMI) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) in healthy schoolchildren. The study found significant correlations between hs-CRP concentrations, BMI, and leptin levels in prepubertal children and adolescents. However, after adjusting for leptin concentration, the correlation between hs-CRP and BMI was not significant in prepubertal children but remained significant in adolescents. These findings suggest that leptin may play a role in low-grade inflammation in early life, while other factors may contribute to hs-CRP levels later in life.

Summary: The study found that plasma leptin and soluble leptin receptor levels were significantly different in PCOS patients as well as in PCOS-infertile and PCOS-recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) groups. Additionally, specific gene polymorphisms and increased leptin levels were associated with the risk of PCOS and PCOS-RPL patients.

Summary: Visceral obesity is associated with a higher risk of disease recurrence, while sarcopenia is significantly correlated with recurrence and overall mortality among Chinese women with breast cancer. Body composition assessment could serve as a simple and effective approach in breast cancer management.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the use of leptin as a marker for gestational diabetes. By analyzing the correlation between serum leptin levels, oral glucose tolerance tests, and increased body weight during pregnancy, it was found that leptin may play a role in the pathophysiology of gestational diabetes mellitus.

Summary: Women with LPP during late pregnancy and postpartum had greater body perception disturbance compared to pain-free women, and this disturbance correlated with higher pain intensity and disability. While not statistically significant (p = 0.052), a disturbed body perception during late pregnancy may predict the presence of LPP postpartum. Further research is needed to confirm these findings.

Summary: This study explores the relationship between nociplastic pain and the severity and impact of pelvic pain symptoms. The results suggest that the degree of nociplastic pain is associated with increased severity, frequency, interference, and pelvic myofascial pain of pelvic pain.
