Summary: The purpose of this study is to examine the agreement between objective and subjective measures of sleep in children with neurodevelopmental conditions (NDCs). The literature search identified 31 studies comparing objective and subjective sleep estimates in autism, ADHD, and genetic syndromes associated with intellectual disability. The results showed greater concordance for sleep scheduling parameters compared to sleep duration and night awakenings. Subjective measures tended to overestimate total sleep time and efficiency while underestimating wake after sleep onset and number of awakenings. These findings have implications for sleep assessment and interpretation in NDCs.

Summary: This systematic review included 20 observational studies that investigated the objective measures of sleep quality in ME/CFS patients. The results revealed inconsistency across studies in parameters such as slow-wave sleep, apnea-hypopnea index, spectral activity, and multiple sleep latency testing. The research on sleep quality in ME/CFS was limited by recruitment decisions, confounding factors, small sample sizes, and non-replicated findings, indicating a need for future well-designed studies in this area.

Summary: The study found that both short and long sleep significantly increased the risk of metabolic syndrome, with a U-shaped relationship between sleep duration and metabolic syndrome risk. Both short and long sleep increased the risk of obesity and high blood pressure, while short sleep may also increase the risk of high blood sugar.

Summary: Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome/systemic exertion intolerance disease (ME/CFS/SEID) is diagnosed based on clinical symptoms, but there is no specific test for it. Previous studies have found that patients with ME/CFS/SEID have low serum acylcarnitine levels. This systematic review and meta-analysis confirmed the significant difference in serum acylcarnitine levels between patients with ME/CFS/SEID and healthy controls.

Summary: One new study found an association between short sleep duration and metabolic syndrome, while the association between long sleep duration and prevalent metabolic syndrome may exist in cross-sectional studies. Interestingly, the association between long sleep and metabolic syndrome was found in sleep duration defined by 24-hour sleep (including naps).

Summary: The study aimed to identify measures used to evaluate quality of life in pediatric multiple sclerosis research, and found that most measures assessed HRQoL instead of QoL. The development of a specific measure of QoL for children and adolescents with pediatric multiple sclerosis was recommended as an important contribution to the field.

Summary: Qigong interventions have significant benefits in improving sleep and fatigue symptoms in cancer patients, with Taichi being the most commonly studied form. However, the effect on depressive symptoms is not significant. The improvement in sleep through qigong is largely mediated by its impact on reducing fatigue, while these benefits may diminish after 3 months.
