A bifunctional CdS/MoO2/MoS2 photocatalyst has been developed for coupling hydrogen production and pyruvic acid synthesis. The synthesis of MoS2 and MoO2 in one step enables the integration of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and pyruvic acid synthesis by accepting photogenerated electrons and holes. This study inspires the concept of coupling hydrogen production with selective organic synthesis to obtain green hydrogen and high-value products.
Recently, a bifunctional CdS/MoO2/MoS2 photocatalyst has been reported for coupling hydrogen production and pyruvic acid synthesis. MoS2 and MoO2, which are synthesized in one step, facilitate the bifunctional integration of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and pyruvic acid synthesis by accepting photogenerated electrons and holes, respectively. This work inspires the new idea of coupling hydrogen production with selective organic synthesis to obtain green hydrogen and high-value products.
