Summary: The study shows that chemotherapeutic dosing strategies learned through reinforcement learning methods are more resilient to perturbations in patient-specific parameter values. By training an agent on mean-value parameters and allowing periodic access to a more easily measurable metric, relative bone marrow density, drug dosing schedules that outperform classical optimal control methods can be developed.

Summary: An innovative SPT evaluation framework, Thermo-SPT, was designed and implemented using a low-cost smartphone thermography to improve the accuracy and reliability of SPT outcomes. Time-lapse thermal changes in skin reactions were analyzed, and new indices (ASI and MMS) were developed to optimize the identification of peak allergic response time. Results showed a significant increase in temperature from the fifth minute and the MMS method demonstrated improved accuracy.

Summary: Our study suggests that the balance between IgG4 and IgE, as well as the balance between total IgE and allergen-specific IgE, are more important than the absolute levels of total, helminth- or allergen-specific antibodies in inhibiting allergies in tropical regions. High IgG4/IgE ratios were associated with beneficial responses in allergen immunotherapy, while helminth infections were positively correlated with total IgE and allergen-specific IgE responses. Additionally, asthmatic schoolchildren had higher levels of total and allergen-specific IgE, but lower ratios of allergen-specific IgG4/IgE and total IgE/allergen-specific IgE compared to non-asthmatic controls.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of skin-to-skin care for premature newborns and found that it is influenced by room temperature, clothing insulation, and neonate's metabolism. The results of the experiments showed that normothermia can be maintained during skin-to-skin care at a temperature of 25.9 °C, while moderate hypothermia may occur at a temperature of 20.9 °C. It was also found that homeothermy can be maintained at a temperature of 25 °C, but only when the neonate has high tissue insulation and metabolic heat production levels.

Summary: Skin prick tests (SPTs) are commonly used for diagnosing allergic rhinitis (AR), but the inclusion of specific allergens in the test panels is still debated. A study investigated patients with inconsistent SPT results for birch, alder, and hazel trees, and found that more than half showed negative SPT results for birch but positive results for alder/hazel. Serological assessments revealed polysensitization and the presence of other positive SPT results for different plants. The study highlights the importance of considering clinical symptoms and using molecular markers for accurate diagnosis.

Summary: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is an immune-mediated esophageal disorder linked to sensitization to food and airborne allergens. Dietary manipulations using allergy tests have been successful in managing EoE inflammation. However, the correlation between allergen detection by these tests and confirmed triggers of EoE is generally low to moderate. Combining multiple tests can improve the positive predictive value. Allergy-based elimination diets have been estimated to be efficient in 66.7% of the cases, but further research is needed to improve the guidance for elimination diets.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the usefulness of skin prick tests (SPT) as the immunological marker in the diagnosis of insect venom sensitization in children. The results showed that SPTs are not an useful immunological marker of venom sensitization in children, and limiting diagnostics to venom specific IgE (sIgE) and intradermal tests (IDT) would shorten the procedure and reduce costs.

Summary: Skin tests, including patch tests, prick tests, and intradermal tests, are valuable in identifying the causes of cutaneous adverse drug reactions and finding safer alternative drugs. Patch tests are useful in studying maculopapular exanthema and severe drug reactions, including acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis and drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms. Prick tests are used to evaluate immediate-type hypersensitivity, while intradermal tests can be used for both immediate and delayed-type hypersensitivity reactions.

Summary: Endothelial cells play a crucial role in cardiovascular health, and dysfunction can be caused by cardiovascular risk factors but restored once stimuli are removed. There are various methods to measure endothelial function, with each having its pros and cons. It is recommended to adopt a consensus methodology like flow-mediated dilatation and establish reference values for different populations. Future studies should explore the integration of endothelial function measurements with patient-specific epigenetic data and other biomarkers.

Summary: Hypertension is associated with activation and migration of immune cells to target organs, contributing to blood pressure elevation and organ damage. Key inflammatory chemokines and their receptors play a critical role in regulating these mechanisms, offering potential therapeutic targets for hypertension management in the future.

Summary: Low-grade inflammation and oxidative stress are crucial in the development of hypertension and related organ damage. Innate immune cells and adaptive immunity play a role in vascular inflammation, while effector T lymphocytes may promote hypertension and microvascular remodeling. Immune mechanisms contribute to oxidative stress and target organ damage in hypertension.

Summary: The project aimed to evaluate the suitability of two types of anatomical tooth reference models, a 3D-printed model and an AR model using Microsoft HoloLens, for reconstructing the occlusal anatomy of teeth. The accuracy and speed of reconstruction, as well as other factors, were evaluated. The results showed that the 3D-printed reference models were the most accurate but slowest, and AR models were useful for dental anatomy education but not suitable replacements for physical models.

Summary: Observational and genetic data were used to study the relationship between blood pressure and cognitive function. The study identified brain structures associated with blood pressure and found that higher systolic blood pressure may have an adverse effect on cognitive function. These findings contribute to our understanding of the negative impact of hypertension on cognitive performance.
