This study reports on how tingible body macrophages in lymph nodes clear apoptotic B cell debris. These macrophages, derived from tissue-resident macrophages, use a sit-and-wait hunting strategy to eliminate apoptotic B cells in the germinal center. They have an important role in debris clearance.
Tingible body macrophages in lymph node clear apoptotic B cell debris. Gurwisz et al. and Grootveld et al. report how tingible body macrophages, originating from tissue-resident macrophages, clear apoptotic B cells in the germinal center using a stand-hunting strategy. Tingible body macrophages in lymph node are involved in cleaning up debris from apoptotic B cells. Gurwisz et al. (2023. J. Exp. Med.https://doi.org/10.1084/jem.20222173) and Grootveld et al. (2023. Cell.https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cell.2023.02.004) report how tingible body macrophages, originating from tissue-resident macrophages, clear apoptotic B cells in the germinal center using a stand-hunting strategy.
