Fe3O4 nanoparticles-decorated graphene oxide (Fe3O4-GO) hybrid were synthesized with the help of silane coupling agents and the appropriate proportion was examined. Then, the epoxy coatings were fabricated by incorporation of GO sheets, Fe3O4 nanoparticles, and Fe3O4-GO hybrid into epoxy resin with same concentrations. Comparison with other nanofillers demonstrated that Fe3O4-GO hybrid achieved a homogeneous dispersion within epoxy resin, as well as significantly enhanced anticorrosive properties of epoxy coatings, owing to their excellent dispersion, sheet-like structure and inherent blocking micro pores property. More strikingly, the sheet-like structure of hybrid was a promising candidate for preparation of anticorrosive coatings. (C) 2016 Taiwan Institute of Chemical Engineers. Published by Elsevier B.V.
