Mn substituted cobalt ferrite nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by a fast-hydrothermal method. The influences of substituent concentration and hydrothermal treatment conditions on the formation of crystalline phases, particle size, morphology and magnetic properties of the synthesized materials were investigated by XRD, SAED, TEM, HRTEM, EDX and magnetic measurements. The average crystallite size of the Co1-xMnxFe2O4 (where x=0; 0.05; 0.1; and 0.5) was between 12 and 18 nm. The magnetic properties of the obtained materials are influenced by the substituent concentration; thus increasing the amount of substituent (Mn2+) leads to an increase of saturation magnetization (M-S), and to a decrease of the coercive field (H-c).
