Summary: This study analyzed the risk factors, management, and in-hospital outcomes of intermediate-risk NSTE-ACS patients in different time windows for revascularization. The results showed that the incidence of in-hospital major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) was lower in patients who underwent revascularization within 48 hours.

Summary: This study analyzed a cohort of acute coronary syndrome patients in Switzerland and found that based on the 2019 ESC/EAS guidelines, half of the patients were potentially eligible for PCSK9i treatment, compared to a three-fold lower eligibility rate based on the 2018 ACC/AHA guidelines.

Summary: Ischemic heart disease is the leading cause of mortality in women and requires gender-specific risk stratification for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Recent research has improved understanding of cardiovascular disease in women, including mechanisms of ischemia with no obstructive coronary arteries and myocardial infarction with no obstructive coronary arteries. Despite progress, sex differences in ischemic heart disease outcomes persist.

Summary: The study found that individuals with stage 1 hypertension defined by the 2017 ACC/AHA guideline had a 1.48-fold increased risk of developing arterial stiffness compared to those with normal blood pressure. This association was more evident in adults aged 40-59 years. A systolic BP of 130 to 139 mmHg was significantly associated with arterial stiffness.

Summary: The study found that NSTE-ACS patients with MVD undergoing MV-PCI and CO-PCI had similar mortality rates at long-term follow-up, but the MV-PCI group showed improved event-free survival in terms of fewer coronary reinterventions.

Summary: This study tested the performance of PCE in predicting ASCVD risk in a community setting and found that values outside PCE ranges and statin medication initiation did not affect its predictive capabilities.

Summary: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a common, life-threatening condition associated with atherosclerosis. This study investigated how galectin-3, an inflammatory factor, is related to CAD and its severity. The findings suggest that elevated levels of galectin-3 in the blood are associated with a higher risk of CAD and the need for revascularization procedures. Galectin-3 could be a potential biomarker for assessing CAD risk and guiding treatment decisions.

Summary: Multivessel disease (MVD) is common in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and is associated with poor outcomes and high mortality rates. Complete revascularization is beneficial for hemodynamically stable ACS patients with MVD, but there are still uncertainties regarding optimal timing and guidance strategies.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the discrimination and calibration of the ACC/AHA ASCVD risk score in predicting the 10-year risk of cardiovascular events in a Colombian population. The results showed that the ACC/AHA ASCVD score had good calibration and discrimination capacity in predicting the 10-year risk of cardiovascular events in a primary prevention cohort in a Colombian hospital.

Summary: Periprocedural myocardial injury and myocardial infarction are common complications of percutaneous coronary intervention, associated with increased short- and long-term mortality. Inflammation levels before, during, and after the procedure are linked to higher rates of myonecrosis and future cardiovascular events. In addition to inflammation from underlying coronary disease, PCI itself triggers an acute inflammatory response.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the impact of vitamin D on cholesterol levels among patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (pPCI). The results showed that lower levels of vitamin D were independently associated with a more atherogenic lipid profile.

Summary: An analysis of National Health Insurance data in Korea showed that pre-existing depression does not have a significant impact on mortality in patients with established coronary artery disease undergoing PCI. However, younger patients with angina and depression may have a higher risk of all-cause mortality.
