Summary: The effects of acupuncture and finasteride on the expression of oestrogen receptors (ERs) alpha and beta in testosterone-induced benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in rats were investigated. The results showed that both acupuncture and finasteride significantly improved the distribution of ERs and could improve BPH. Additionally, ER beta mRNA expression in the finasteride group was significantly different compared to the control and acupuncture groups, suggesting a potential mechanism of action for the treatment of BPH.

Summary: This study examined the receptor status of breast tissue in adult women with juvenile or idiopathic gigantomastia and found no correlation between excessive breast growth and the expression of ERα and PR. Analyzing the abnormal sensitivity of these receptors to hormones may be crucial in understanding the increased risk of breast cancer in women with gigantomastia.

Summary: The aim of this review was to evaluate the effect of antioxidant supplementation (AS) on male fertility parameters. Numerous studies have shown a positive impact of AS on assisted reproductive therapy outcomes, semen parameters, and live birth rate. However, there is still a need for further research to determine the optimal combination of antioxidants and the influence of environmental factors.

Summary: Prematurely-born infants cared for in neonatal units exhibit memory and learning deficits. The dysmaturation of neurons in the hippocampal dentate gyrus is associated with elevated levels of PSD95, NMDR2A, and IGF1. Treatment with 17β-estradiol (E2) is hypothesized to improve neurogenesis and synaptogenesis in the hippocampal dentate gyrus, reversing cognitive deficits in premature newborns. E2 treatment in a rabbit model of prematurity increased the number of neuronal progenitors and synapse density in the hippocampal dentate gyrus, restored cognitive function, and influenced gene interactions related to IGF1 signaling.

Summary: Background: DNAJB7 is a highly conserved protein involved in various biological processes. However, its function in spermatogenesis and male fertility has been unclear. Methods: Dnajb7-deficient mice were generated using CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing system to investigate the role of DNAJB7 in male reproduction. Results: DNAJB7 is specifically expressed in haploid germ cells. Dnajb7 knockout mice are fertile and show no defects in Sertoli cells, spermatogonia, meiotic and postmeiotic cells, suggesting that DNAJB7 is not essential for spermatogenesis.

Summary: This study identifies circMRPS35 as a highly expressed circRNA in HCC and shows that its knockdown inhibits cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and colony formation, as well as tumor growth. circMRPS35 regulates PTEN expression and degradation through miR-148a and STX3. Additionally, the circMRPS35-encoded peptide circMRPS35-168aa promotes cisplatin resistance in HCC.

Summary: This study investigates the function of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and its receptor (FSHR) using in vitro models. By differentiating FSHR-expressing cells from human pluripotent stem cells, the researchers were able to study endogenous FSHR function. The results show that FSH stimulation activates the cAMP signaling pathway and downstream mediators, and the analysis of protein-protein interactions revealed key proteins associated with infertility.

Summary: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder in women of reproductive age, but its etiology and targeted therapy options are still unknown. The reduced expression of miR-335-5p in PCOS patients suggests its potential as a diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target for PCOS. Further studies revealed the mechanistic pathway of miR-335-5p in the etiopathogenesis of PCOS, making it a promising candidate for further research and development.

Summary: This study identified a novel SIRT1 regulatory protein, NOC4L, that binds to and inhibits the deacetylation of p53 mediated by SIRT1. Overexpression of NOC4L increases p53 acetylation and promotes cell apoptosis, while inhibiting tumor cell proliferation and tumor growth in a p53-dependent manner.

Summary: This study aims to elucidate the potential role and molecular mechanism of circZKSaa in the regulation of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression. Through a series of experiments, it was found that circZKSaa inhibited HCC progression and sensitized HCC cells to sorafenib. Furthermore, the high expression of cicZKSCAN1 in sorafenib-treated HCC cells was regulated by QKI-5. These findings demonstrate that circZKSaa has the potential to serve as a therapeutic target and biomarker for HCC treatment.

Summary: This study reanalyzed the circRNA expression data of TNBC and identified circCAPG as a potential biomarker in TNBC. Further experiments showed that circCAPG could encode a novel polypeptide, CAPG-171aa, which promoted the proliferation and metastasis of TNBC cells. Additionally, SLU7 was found to be involved in the formation of circCAPG. These findings provide new insights into the role of circCAPG in TNBC and its potential as a therapeutic target and prognostic biomarker.
