This study investigates the impact of Industry 4.0 on supply chain performance, with the mediating role of supply chain resilience and the moderating role of supply chain visibility. The findings suggest that Industry 4.0 has a significant impact on supply chain performance and that supply chain resilience and visibility play important roles in this relationship.
Drawing on information processing theory and resource-based view (RBV), this study examines the impact of industry 4.0 on supply chain performance (SCP). The study also explores how supply chain resilience (SCRes) and supply chain visibility (SCV) influence the association between Industry4.0 and SC performance. Cross-sectional data was collected from 458 respondents working in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical companies using a close-ended questionnaire. The study employed partial least square structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to analyze the hypothesized relationships. The findings confirmed a significant and substantial impact of In-dustry4.0 on SC performance. Similarly, findings also depicted a significant mediating role of SCRes between Industry 4.0 and SCP. Furthermore, results also found a significant moderating role of SCV in a way that it reinforced the impact of Industry 4.0 on SCRes. This study provides an understanding of Industry 4.0 applications and their role between SCRes and SCV. The results of the study suggest the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies uplifts SC resilience and SC performance thereon.

Roling-window bounds testing approach to analyze the relationship between oil prices and metal prices

Summary: This study examines the evolution of the long-run relationship between oil prices and metals prices from January 1979 to December 2017 using the rolling-window autoregressive lag modeling (RARDL) testing approach. The empirical findings suggest that there is no long-run relationship between oil prices and metals prices (gold, platinum, and silver) in a 5-year rolling window. However, a long-run relationship between oil prices and steel prices is observed from December 2003 to December 2014. In larger rolling windows of 10, 15, and 20 years, oil prices are not cointegrated with gold prices, but steel, silver, and platinum show a long-run relationship with oil prices in different periods.

Corporate governance, cash holding, and firm performance in an emerging market

Summary: Existing literature emphasizes the importance of corporate governance mechanism in mitigating agency conflicts and confirms the effectiveness of board structure (measured as size, diversity, independence, and CEO duality) in overcoming agency problems. This study examines the impact of board structure on a firm's cash holding levels and tests the role of cash holding in the association between board structure and firm performance. The results show that most corporate governance variables do not affect cash holding levels in manufacturing and servicing sectors, except for block holders which have a negative impact on cash holding in manufacturing. Cash holding significantly mediates between board size and ROA. Firms with weaker governance structures tend to have lower cash holding and are prone to external environmental risk.
