Neutron-deficient isotopes of Pt-Hg-Pb-Po-Rn are the classic region in the investigation of shape coexistence in atomic nuclei. A large programme of Coulomb-excitation experiments has been undertaken at the REX-ISOLDE facility in CERN with a number of even-even isotopes in this region. These experiments have been used to probe the electromagnetic properties of yrast and non-yrast states of even-even exotic nuclei, above and below Z = 82. Amongst a large amount of different complementary techniques used to study nuclear structure, Coulomb excitation brings substantial and unique information detailing shape coexistence. In this paper we review the Coulomb-excitation campaign at REX-ISOLDE in the light-lead region together with most recently obtained results. Furthermore, we present some new interpretations that arise from this data and show testing comparisons to state-of-the-art nuclear models.

Summary: This study investigates the charge radii of Hg-207 and Hg-208 for the first time and reanalyzes the data of Hg-202, Hg-203, and Hg-206. A characteristic kink in the charge radii at N=126 is discovered, offering insights into its behavior below the Z=82 proton shell closure. A new odd-even staggering mechanism is proposed, suggesting that pairing may not be crucial in explaining the phenomena at N=126.

Summary: The nature of the high-lying final levels of 96Ygs beta decay has been investigated using high-resolution gamma-ray spectroscopy and inelastic photon scattering experiments, revealing 1- levels associated with the Pygmy Dipole Resonance. A comprehensive approach was used to determine the wavefunction and absolute E1 excitation strength, with comparisons between beta decay and total absorption gamma-ray spectroscopy showing good agreement.

Summary: The yield of radioactive gold nuclei produced in a thick uranium target at ISOLDE (CERN) by 1.4-GeV protons was measured. The efficiency curve, which shows the production-efficiency dependence on the half-life, was derived using in-target production calculations. Irregularities in the efficiency curve for long-lived high-spin gold isomers were found, and three release models were tested for the description of the efficiency curve.

Summary: The mean-square charge radius, magnetic dipole, and electric quadrupole moments of Bi-187, Bi-188, Bi-189, and Bi-191 were measured using in-source resonance-ionization spectroscopy at ISOLDE (CERN). Significant variations in radius were observed in the ground states of Bi-187, Bi-188, Bi-189(g), with a large isomer shift in Bi-188(m) at neutron number N = 10(5). Experimental results were consistent with mean-field calculations, identifying the ground or isomeric states based on blocked quasiparticle configurations.

Summary: The first low-energy Coulomb-excitation measurement of 206Hg, a radioactive semi-magic nucleus, was conducted at CERN's HIE-ISOLDE facility. The experiment observed two gamma rays from the depopulation of low-lying states in 206Hg. The results provide crucial information for understanding quadrupole and octupole collectivity near the heaviest double-magic nucleus 208Pb and can be used to test theoretical calculations relevant to astrophysical processes.

Summary: The HISPEC-DESPEC collaboration focuses on investigating the structure of exotic nuclei formed in fragmentation reactions through decay spectroscopy measurements. This paper presents preliminary results from an experiment conducted in spring 2021, with a particular emphasis on beta-decay studies in the Po-Fr nuclei in the 220 < A <230 region of octupole deformation utilizing the DESPEC setup. Summary: By combining laser spectroscopy in a Versatile Arc Discharge and Laser Ion Source (VADLIS) with Penning-trap mass spectrometry at the CERN-ISOLDE facility, this study investigated neutron-rich mercury isotopes near the N = 126 shell closure. The odd-even staggering of mean square charge radii and the kink at N = 126 were analyzed within the covariant density functional theory (CDFT) framework, revealing their dependence on the particle-hole channel. The results suggest that the observed features are predominantly influenced by the occupation of specific orbitals and their relative energies.

Summary: The single-particle properties of 29Mg have been investigated using the 28Mg(d,p)29Mg reaction in inverse kinematics. Negative-parity intruder states from the f p shell have been identified and used to benchmark modern shell-model calculations. The data on the single-particle centroids show good agreement with shell-model predictions, but there is also evidence of the finite geometry of the nuclear potential affecting the behavior of p orbitals near the particle-emission threshold.

Summary: A study of laser-ionized and mass-separated neutron-deficient isotopes Au-176, Au-177, and Au-179 at ISOLDE, CERN, provided new insights into the complex fine-structure alpha decays of these isotopes and the properties of their daughter nuclei Ir-172, Ir-173, and Ir-175, as well as beta-decay daughter products Pt-177 and Pt-179. The study also deduced nuclear magnetic moments for high- and low-spin alpha-decaying states of Au-176, proposing probable spins and configurations based on the results.
