Summary: Fluid overload can lead to poor outcomes in critically ill patients, especially during weaning from mechanical ventilation. Early diuretic administration may reduce the duration of mechanical ventilation, but can also pose risks of complications. This study aims to compare two fluid removal strategies during weaning in ICU, with one being preventive and the other curative, in order to evaluate their impact on outcomes such as weaning duration and complications.

Summary: GI bleeding following bariatric surgery is a serious complication, but early endoscopic intervention does not significantly affect the rehospitalization rate of patients with GI bleeding after surgery under the ERABS protocol. The long-term weight loss effects of bariatric surgery are not dependent on the need for early endoscopic intervention.

Summary: This paper makes an important contribution to the historiography of medical professional associationism in Spain in the mid-20th century by examining the efforts of the Professional Association of Liberal Physicians (APML) to break with tradition and promote a socially committed medicine. The active political and social participation of the APML made it an enemy of the Franco regime, resulting in repression and exile for its members.

Summary: This article emphasizes the importance of social consensus in politics and uses the approval of Law 17/2021 in Spain as an example. It highlights the role of Parliament as an institution that maintains continuity in its work and emphasizes that sufficient consensus existed in 2017 for the reform of the Civil Code. The reform aimed to align it with the new citizen convictions regarding the need to respect animals as sentient beings. Despite the interruption caused by the dissolution of the Cortes Generales in 2019, the Proposal was recovered and amendments were made by various parliamentary groups, resulting in the enactment of the law in 2021.
