Summary: Gel assemblies of functional nanoparticles offer promise as versatile materials platforms. In this study, a mutual polarization method and a coarse-grained model were used to study the behavior of plasmonic linker gels. The simulation results demonstrate the capability to modulate the spectral features and mechanical properties of the gel by selecting different linkers.

Summary: The study demonstrates the conformal embedding of carbon with Pt clusters grown on h-BN/Ir(111), resulting in a homogeneous amorphous carbon matrix upon annealing. Both the a-C matrix and Pt clusters weaken their binding to h-BN during annealing.

Summary: Electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) microscopy is a promising technique for mapping chemical reactions on single nanoparticles. By coupling ECL dyes with plasmonic nanoparticles, such as hexagonal arrays of gold nanodisks, signal intensity can be significantly improved. Varying the lattice spacing of these nanoparticles can result in a 23-fold enhancement of ECL intensity due to increased dye-array near-field coupling.

Summary: Herein, we report the construction of uniform core-shell hybrid nanorods with the regioselective distribution of inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) by selectively disassembling the prepared NPs/polystyrene-block-poly(4-vinyl-pyridine) (PS-b-P4VP) hybrid nanosheets. By adjusting the parameters, such as complexation ability, protonation degree, and complexation time, the NPs/polymer core-shell hybrid nanorods with uniform distribution of NPs and dumbbell-like hybrid nanorods with selective distribution of NPs at both ends can be obtained.

Summary: The preparation of high-performance BiVO4 thin films using a straightforward and cost-effective hot spin coating method is described in this work. The optimized parameters resulted in uniform mesoporous films with high adhesion. The method was also capable of preparing large-scale superhydrophilic BiVO4 layers, exhibiting stable photo-current density in a photoelectrochemical cell.

Summary: The interest in sustainable hydrocarbon-like biofuel production is increasing, and Fe/HMS catalyst has shown potential in efficiently producing diesel-range biofuel. The catalyst's performance is attributed to well-dispersed Fe in the hematite phase, interaction between Si-OH and Fe-O bonds, acidity, surface area, and pore size enhancements. This result indicates Fe/HMS catalyst as a potential DO catalyst for renewable hydrocarbon-like biofuel production.

Summary: Global warming and environmental concerns have led to global efforts to reduce anthropogenic carbon emissions, leading to a focus on mesoporous silica materials for their carbon capture properties. A recent study investigated the internal arrangement and diffusion properties of CO2 in silica mesopores, revealing multiple physisorbed species coexisting. Through C-13 NMR and C-13 PFG NMR analysis, it was found that CO2 in mesopores exhibited anisotropic long-range mobility with different diffusion coefficients depending on direction.

Summary: The synthesis of ordered mesoporous films via self-assembly is a significant achievement in nanoscience, but controlling the complex chemical-physical phenomena caused by solvent evaporation remains challenging. While there have been advancements in basic research, more understanding is needed on the self-organization mechanism and the physics and chemistry of mesoscale porosity.
