Summary: Cadmium, a toxic heavy metal, is widely present in the environment and exposure to low levels of cadmium has been associated with adverse effects, including a potential link with osteoporosis. Studies in European countries have estimated that around 23% of osteoporosis cases in women over 55 years old can be attributed to cadmium exposure, while between 6% and 34% of women under 55 years old may be at risk for osteoporosis due to cadmium exposure. The costs associated with cadmium-related osteoporosis fractures are substantial, ranging from 0.12 to 2.6 billion Euros in the targeted countries.

Summary: This study aimed to explore communication about children's origins among same-gender parent adoptive families. It found that adoptive parents had three main stances regarding their child's origins, influenced by their experiences as sexual minorities and their feelings towards adoptive and sexual minority family statuses. These findings emphasize the importance of considering sexual minority identity issues in communication about children's origins in same-gender parent adoptive families.

Summary: Research reveals a group of Moroccan adolescent girls, referred to as petites bonnes or young housemaids, who are particularly vulnerable to sex trafficking due to their irregular arrival in cities, low education levels, and limited work experience. Addressing these challenges requires primary prevention measures to increase financial viability of at-risk social groups and establish successful educational trajectories in their places of origin.

Summary: The Roquemaillere site in the southeastern margin of the French Massif Central is a rare locality for Silurian odontopleurid trilobites along the Northern Gondwana margin. The revision of collections from this site revealed the presence of several trilobite species, with Kettneraspis being the most dominant in terms of both specific diversity and number of individuals. These findings confirm the age of the Roquemaillere fauna to be during the Homerian stage.

Summary: Juan Solanas's 2005 film Nordeste/Northeast explores the complexities of maternity by depicting two female characters who embody the cultural norms of the Global North and South, and intertwine with narratives of transnational trade. Lynn M. Morgan and Elizabeth F. S. Roberts argue that the concept of 'reproductive governance' provides insight into how political rationalities shape women's reproductive lives in Latin America and globally. This concept can also shed light on the contradictions and ambivalences inherent in the experiences of abortion and adoption, which are integral aspects of maternity.

Summary: This paper examines how agroecology training centers in Belgium, France, and Spain construct and apply issue frames based on specific environmental values, drawing on concepts from environmental psychology. The study suggests that domain experts can serve as powerful conduits through which informal institutions can develop and spread in the transition to agroecology, by emphasizing a community frame based on the value of environmental altruism.

Summary: The presence of micro-, meso-, and macroplastics in Alburnus sellal and its parasite Ligula intestinalis in the Tigris River was reported for the first time. Plastic occurrence was evaluated based on museum fish materials collected between 2007 and 2021. Plastics were found in 57% of A. sellal specimens and in 74% of L. intestinalis specimens. The most common type of plastics was fibers, accounting for 96.2% and 81% in A. sellal and L. intestinalis, respectively. Microplastics constituted a significant proportion of the plastics found in both species. The study emphasizes the urgent need to understand the distribution and impact of plastics in freshwater environments.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the temporal and spatial status of metal concentrations in zooplankton from the Edremit Bay, as well as utilization of zooplankton as a bio-indicator for metal pollution. Samples were analyzed using atomic absorption spectrometers. Metal concentrations in zooplankton showed a wide range, and the mean concentration of metals decreased in a specific order. Metal Pollution Index values were higher in the spring and at point stations. The high accumulation degrees of metals in zooplankton could be related to various factors in Edremit Bay.

Summary: A new species, Hedysarum dazkiriense, was described and illustrated in this study. It is only found in Dazkiri district in Afyonkarahisar Province, Turkiye. The species belongs to the genus Hedysarum and is closely related to H. syriacum and H. pestalozzae, but can be distinguished from them by its smaller leaflets and calyx, as well as other morphological differences. The study also provided taxonomic descriptions, images, and the IUCN threat category of the new species, along with mapping its geographical distribution.

Summary: This paper focuses on the economics of a cross-border transmission interconnector by modeling domestic spot electricity prices as a stochastic process and studying the price gap between countries. By combining simulated price gaps with an observed data Tobit model, the study derives probability distributions of revenues, expenses, and risk measures, finding that the economics depend on domestic seasonalities and the trend of the price gap.

Summary: The Meeting of the Electrochemistry Group of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry is an annual event that has been held since the late 1970s. Due to the economic crisis in Spain, many electrochemists trained in Spain have emigrated to other countries and now lead important research groups. Therefore, this year's meeting was held in Paris, France, to bring together all electrochemists trained in Spain.

Summary: This paper analyzes the existence of efficiency wages in the French and Spanish labor markets using data from time use surveys. The results support the main hypothesis of urban efficiency wage models, showing relationships between leisure, shirking at work, commuting, and earnings. The findings provide empirical evidence for a direct link between commuting and earnings, which could help improve the functioning of labor markets.
