Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional status of individuals with Parkinson's disease, finding that GNRI had a lower capability in detecting malnutrition compared to MNA. While there was a positive correlation between MNA and GNRI scores, the correlation was not significant.

Summary: This study assessed the nutritional status of Greek liver cirrhosis (LC) patients and compared different assessment tools for predicting mortality. The study found a high prevalence of malnutrition in LC patients, but unexpectedly discovered a high proportion of well-nourished patients when evaluating nutritional status using various measurements. The Mini Nutritional Assessment (MNA) score was identified as a strong predictor of mortality.

Summary: Obesity is not a risk factor for very old patients with COVID-19, but underweight and malnutrition may increase the risk of in-hospital mortality, especially among patients with other diagnoses.

Summary: Maintaining a good functional status is crucial for older adults with cancer. This study explores the association between comprehensive geriatric assessment results and independence in instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) one year after chemotherapy. It also examines overall survival (OS) and premature termination of chemotherapy. The study found that half of the patients were able to maintain IADL independence, functional status, and quality of life one year after chemotherapy. An abnormal G8-score before chemotherapy was associated with progressive disease, decline of IADL independence, prematurely terminated chemotherapy, and shorter median OS.

Summary: Malnutrition is a significant risk factor for cardiovascular disease in patients with CKD. The Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) has been proven to be a simple and effective nutritional screening measure with important implications for predicting mortality rates in CKD patients.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional status of inpatients at an Oncology Department and found a high proportion of patients at nutritional risk or with moderate/severe malnutrition. The findings emphasize the importance of integrated assessment of nutritional status at patient referral, in order to provide early and timely nutrition care.

Summary: This study evaluated the effectiveness of Geriatric Assessment (GA)-driven interventions and follow-up in improving survival, functional, and nutritional status in older patients with head and neck cancer (HNC). The findings showed that GA-driven interventions and follow-up did not improve six-month overall survival, functional, and nutritional status in older HNC patients.

Summary: The study found that patients who were more functionally dependent at the initial post-acute setting had a higher risk of hospital readmission. This finding holds true across different impairment conditions and post-acute care settings.

Summary: This study demonstrated the clinical significance of pre-treatment nutritional status using the MNA-SF among HNC patients receiving CCRT. Patients with normal nutrition had better treatment outcomes and higher overall survival rates compared to those at risk of malnutrition and malnourished. The study suggests that nutritional assessment should be incorporated in pre-CCRT evaluation for all HNC patients to identify those vulnerable to treatment complications and interruptions.

Summary: The study found that nutritional status is a significant predictor of out-of-hospital mortality in vascular surgery patients. Patients with non-specific malnutrition and protein-energy malnutrition had a higher risk of mortality within 90 days after discharge. This suggests that intensified dietary guidance and interventions in both the hospital and outpatient settings may benefit vascular disease patients with malnutrition.

Summary: This study retrospectively analyzed the relationship between Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index (GNRI) at hospital admission and discharge and long-term survival in patients with acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF). The results suggest that evaluating GNRI at hospital discharge is more accurate in predicting the long-term prognosis of patients.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of daily activities, nutritional status, and muscle surface on the prognosis of critically ill cancer patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). The results showed that muscle surface, the ability to perform daily activities, and the six-month course of nutritional parameters could predict short- and long-term prognosis. This information is crucial for solid cancer patients with life-threatening complications.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the dietary intake of NH residents receiving TMD, and the results showed a high correlation between PD estimation and WR measurement, with no significant differences between the two methods. PD estimation for energy and protein intake from TMD corresponds well to WR-determined intake, if the energy and protein content of the offered meals is known.
