Summary: This study aimed to investigate the molecular mechanisms and tumor-associated functions of LINC00312 in lung cancer. Lung cancer-related expression microarrays were obtained from the GEO database. Downstream miRNA for LINC00312 and target mRNA for the potential miRNA were predicted using relevant databases, and their associations were confirmed through experimental assays. The results indicated that LINC00312 acts as a tumor suppressor in lung cancer and inhibits its occurrence and progression through the miR-3175/SEMA6A axis.

Summary: In this study, the researchers investigated the functional role of a novel long noncoding RNA SEAS1 in breast cancer progression. They found that SEAS1 was downregulated in TNBC tissues and its knockdown increased the proliferation, migration, and invasion of TNBC cell lines. They also discovered that SEAS1 acted as a sponge for miR-3940-3p, preventing the degradation of its target gene KLLN, which acts as a tumor inhibitor. Additionally, they demonstrated that SMAD3 directly interacted with the promoter of SEAS1 and suppressed its transcription, thereby promoting TNBC progression. Their findings suggest that SEAS1 may serve as a potential biomarker and therapeutic target for TNBC.

Summary: The study found that TNS1 is upregulated in NSCLC cells and tissues, and is associated with the prognosis of NSCLC patients. Additionally, TNS1 promotes the growth and metastasis of NSCLC cells via the Akt/mTOR/RhoA pathway. miR-152 targets TNS1 to influence the progression of NSCLC.

Summary: Hsa-miR-599 expression is downregulated in breast cancer tissues and cells, and is negatively correlated with TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. Enhanced hsa-miR-599 expression in breast cancer cells inhibits cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and promotes cell apoptosis. Hsa-miR-599 may target BRD4 and inhibit breast cancer progression by targeting the Jagged1/Notch1 pathway.

Summary: LINC01089 expression was downregulated in lung cancer tissues and cell lines, and low levels of LINC01089 predicted a poor clinical outcome. LINC01089, directly suppressed by YY1, functioned as a competing endogenous RNA against miR-301b-3p to increase HPGD expression, thus inhibiting lung cancer progression.

Summary: Hsa_circ_0001666 is downregulated in CRC and its higher expression level is associated with better clinical prognosis. Through regulation of the miR-576-5p/PCDH10 axis, hsa_circ_0001666 suppresses the progression of CRC.

Summary: This study found significantly downregulated HCP5 expression in gastric cancer tissues, and depletion of HCP5 facilitated cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Moreover, MEF2A-mediated HCP5 exerted an anti-tumor effect in gastric cancer development through the miR-106b-5p/p21 axis.

Summary: Circular RNAs (circRNAs)are endogenous noncoding RNAs that play vital roles in many biological processes, particularly in human cancer. Recent studies indicate that circRNAs play an important role in tumor progression through exosomes. However, the specific functions of gastric cancer-derived exosomes and the role of circSTAU2 in gastric cancer (GC) remain largely unknown.

Summary: Cigarette smoking is an independent risk factor for lung cancer. Nicotine, an addictive substance in tobacco and e-cigarettes, promotes tumor progression and metastasis. JWA, a tumor suppressor gene, plays a role in inhibiting tumor growth and maintaining cellular homeostasis. The role of JWA in nicotine-induced tumor progression remains unclear.

Summary: This study revealed that circ_0102171 is highly expressed in cervical cancer tissues and cells, and silencing circ_0102171 can inhibit cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and enhance apoptosis. Mechanistically, circ_0102171 acts as a sponge for miR-4465, which in turn regulates the downstream target CREBRF to aggravate cervical cancer progression.

Summary: Dysregulated cholesterol metabolism is a characteristic of colorectal cancer, but the use of cholesterol-lowering agents seems to have no benefit in CRC patients. This study reveals the importance of the cholesterol-nuclear receptors axis in CRC, with ROR alpha/gamma being a key nuclear receptor. Treatment with ROR alpha/gamma agonists significantly inhibits the proliferation and migration of CRC cells. Mechanistically, ROR alpha/gamma agonists promote the degradation of c-myc protein by activating the transcription of the ubiquitinase NEDD4. Furthermore, the combination of ROR alpha/gamma agonists and atorvastatin has a synergistic effect on inhibiting CRC cells.

Summary: Ovarian cancer is the second leading cause of death in women with gynecological malignancy in China. Circular RNAs, specifically hsa_circ_0007444, play a role in inhibiting ovarian cancer progression by interacting with AGO2 and sponging miR-23a-3p, ultimately upregulating DICER1 expression, which is a tumor suppressor in ovarian cancer. The downregulation of hsa_circ_0007444 in ovarian cancer tissues and cell lines leads to enhanced cell proliferation, invasion, migration, and decreased apoptosis. In vivo experiments also confirm that hsa_circ_0007444 inhibits tumor growth and lung metastasis in mouse models.
