Summary: This study analyzed satellite images of NO2, CO, O-3, SO2, and PM2.5 over Ukrainian territory and PM2.5 land monitoring data for Kyiv during the first months of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. The results showed that NO2 and PM2.5 correlated the most with war activities. CO and O3 levels increased, while SO2 concentrations reduced four-fold as war intensified. Drastic increases in pollution (especially PM2.5) from bombing and fires raise additional health concerns for local and regional populations.

Summary: Academic health centers (AHCs) need a coordinated approach to handle health security events, and the authors propose the creation of a new C-suite role, the chief health security officer (CHSO), to oversee overall health security and report to top management. They also suggest key responsibilities for this position, and urge institutions to provide training and credentials to facilitate the establishment and definition of CHSO positions.

Summary: This study examines the resilience, protective, and vulnerability factors of Ukrainian civilians during the Russian-Ukrainian war, comparing them with an Israeli sample following an armed conflict. Findings show that the Ukrainian sample reported higher distress symptoms, sense of danger, and perceived threats, but also higher levels of hope and societal resilience. Protective factors such as hope and wellbeing were better predictors of resilience than vulnerability factors. Demographic characteristics had minimal impact on resilience prediction.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the connection between mental health, physical well-being, and reproductive system pathology in females who suffered war-related concussions. A total of 715 participants were included in the study, including female military personnel, women from occupied/deoccupied areas, and civilians. The results showed that female soldiers with post-concussive syndrome (PCS) had longer menstrual periods, more frequent and painful menstruation, and heavier periods, as well as higher rates of endometrial structural pathology. The decline in health among female veterans and active-duty personnel has social significance, impacting Ukraine's defense, demographic patterns, socio-political landscape, and social stability.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of social media consumption and information overload on the distribution of fake news among Romanians in relation to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. It also explores the influence of traumatic events and interaction with war victims on psychological features such as resilience, general health, perceived stress, coping strategies, and fear of war. The findings suggest that information strain partially moderates the relationship between information overload and the tendency to spread false information, and there are significant differences in fear of war and coping strategies between those who worked with refugees and those who did not. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding reasons for sharing false information and implementing strategies to combat this behavior, as well as providing support for aid workers' psychological wellbeing.

Summary: In this paper, the operational status of the Ukrainian Internet during the first months of war after the Russian invasion in February 2022 is analyzed. The analysis is done from two perspectives: routing and latency. The increase in BGP announcements and withdrawals suggests both physical unavailability of facilities and cyberattacks. Moreover, latency has significantly increased, particularly in paths from Ukraine to Russia, indicating a partial shift from peering to transit.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of the Russian-Ukraine war on the hospitality equity sector market in 26 selected countries. It finds that there is a significant increase in return connectivity at the beginning of the war. The sector's return is more sensitive when there is a higher tourism demand from Russia and Ukraine and when a country is more dependent on energy from Russia. The overall results consistently support the efficient market hypothesis.

Summary: Russia's invasion of Ukraine will lead to worsened macroeconomic stability, reduced foreign trade and investment, and scarcity of human capital. Russia is unlikely to fully compensate for these losses through increased economic engagement with China, particularly in high-tech areas. Import substitution is also unlikely to help Russia escape economic isolation or the resource curse. As Kremlin-connected elites further dominate the economy, crony state capitalism and kleptocracy will rise.

Summary: Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 has revealed Europe's dependence on a geopolitical adversary and its impact on energy. The crisis has led to an accelerated shift towards clean energy supply in Europe, complications in phasing out fossil fuels, negative effects on sustainable transitions in the Global South, implications for energy equity within and beyond Europe, and a resurgence of state involvement in energy. This situation raises challenging questions for policymakers seeking sustainable and equitable transitions.
