Summary: In this study, a novel multi-stimuli responsive intelligent actuating polyurethane material, AzoPU50, was prepared through co-polymerization. The material can respond to three types of stimuli - heat, light, and humidity - to trigger shape deformation movements. This work provides a new strategy for developing multi-stimuli-responsive smart actuating devices and intelligent materials/systems.

Summary: We report the self-assembly of polymer-coated magnetoplasmonic Janus nanoparticles driven by amphiphilicity, which results in well-defined colloidal ensembles with controllable size, morphology, and dimension. By coating pH-responsive block copolymer and hydrophilic polymers on plasmonic and magnetic sides of the nanoparticles, respectively, we can achieve a direct correlation between the amphiphilicity of the building blocks and the structural parameters of the ensembles. This study provides insight into the self-assembly of functional nanocrystals and offers possibilities for tuning interparticle distance and studying metal-fluorophore interaction.

Summary: Using ferrocene-based ligand systems, a series of heterobimetallic architectures were designed to release and bind guest molecules. The complexes were characterized using various techniques and the disassembly and reassembly process of metallosupramolecular structures were investigated using NMR spectroscopy. Guest binding studies revealed interactions with anionic guests and the release of guests was induced by Cl- ions.

Summary: This study focuses on fine-tuning the amphiphilic properties of a siloxane-polyurethane (SiPU) coating by adjusting the content of PDMS and PEG in the coating matrix. The addition of surface-modifying amphiphilic additives further enhances the antifouling/fouling-release properties of the coatings. The results show that formulations with higher amounts of these additives exhibit significantly improved fouling-release performance, surpassing that of commercial standard FR coatings.

Summary: Host-guest systems based on donor-acceptor interactions are a new platform for preparing luminescent metal-organic frameworks. Designing and modulating charge transfer-based fluorescence in these systems is challenging. In this study, the researchers successfully fabricated a series of host-guest materials that exhibit charge transfer-based fluorescence by using electron-rich naphthalene derivatives and an electron-deficient naphthalene diimide-based MOF as the donor and acceptor, respectively. By selecting different naphthalene derivatives, the emitted color can be tuned. Electronic structure calculations showed that the multicolor emissions of these MOFs depend on the energy levels of the naphthalene derivatives.

Summary: A pH-triggered transition from micellar aggregation to a host-guest complex was achieved by supramolecular interactions between calixpyridinium and pyrroloquinoline quinone disodium salt (PQQ-2Na), accompanied by a color change. This transition was further studied as a controllable-release model due to the low toxicity of the involved compounds.

Summary: The study successfully developed a light-triggered charge reversal nanoparticle release system for precise control of targeted molecule release, incorporating photocleavage-bridged polysilsesquioxane nanoparticles as carriers for doxorubicin. The nanoparticles could reverse their surface charge from negative to positive upon light irradiation, enabling controlled release of loaded molecules. By regulating irradiation parameters, the release of doxorubicin was precisely controlled, showcasing the system's potential applications in biomedical technology.

Summary: The synthesis of a self-immolative polymer from recycled plastic waste has led to the development of a stable micellar nanostructure that efficiently encapsulates hydrophobic guest molecules. The nanoassembly demonstrates properties of a nanocontainer through hydrophobic interactions as well as supramolecular cross-linking in the core. The controlled release of guest molecules in a redox environment and the regulated charge modulation of the nanoassembly make it a promising candidate for targeted drug delivery.

Summary: The role of nonpolar co-solvents in initiating supramolecular polymerization and forming 1D nanowires has been studied by synthesizing a fluorophore-spacer-receptor derivative. The efficient gel formation in non-polar solvents is supported by microscopic and rheological data. Analysis of co-solvent composition reveals the crucial role of a critical co-solvent composition in initiating the polymerization process.

Summary: A covalently cross-linked nanoassembly, called nanonetwork (NN), was designed and synthesized, which showed dual pH responsiveness for stable sequestration and sustained release of drug molecules in response to endosomal pH. The nanonetwork, fabricated from an amphiphile integrated with tertiary amine and acrylate functionalities, exhibited entropically driven self-assembly and micellar nanostructures. The cross-linking of the micellar core with thiol-acrylate Michael addition click reaction generated acid labile β-thioester functionalities, enabling slow hydrolysis and sustained release of the anti-cancer drug doxorubicin at endosomal pH.
