We present here a textile for the adsorptive removal iodine from wastewater using three-dimensional Ni-3(BTC)(2)center dot 12H(2)O (NiBTC) mesoporous coordination polymer and silk fibers. NiBTC upon fiber has been synthesized under ultrasound irradiation of identical reaction mixtures of Ni(II) salt and H3BTC. The effects of ultrasound irradiation and sequential dipping steps on the growth of NiBTC upon fiber have been studied. These systems depicted a decrease in the particles size with a decrease in the power of ultrasound irradiation. Results suggest that an increasing of sequential dipping steps led to a decrease of particle size. A comparison of adsorption and desorption rates of iodine between samples was also conducted. The silk fibers containing NiBTC exhibited high antibacterial activity against P. aeruginosa and S. aureus.
