Summary: This retrospective study examined a cohort of patients who underwent heart transplantation in 11 Spanish centers and found a prevalence of TCAD in 18.3% of patients. Patients with significant TCAD had an increased risk of cardiovascular death and occurrence of cardiovascular death or nonfatal MACE.

Summary: As big data analytics become more prevalent, machine learning (ML) is seen as a promising tool for predicting clinical outcomes. This study evaluated the predictive ability of various ML models for estimating mortality after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), with Logistic Regression (LR) and XGBoost showing the highest performance in mortality prediction.

Summary: The study analyzed sex differences in predictors and outcomes of CABG in 176,680 FinnGen participants, finding that women had a stronger association between CABG and increased risks of various diseases compared to men, with a higher long-term risk of death post-CABG.

Summary: This study compares the outcomes of multiarterial grafting and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with multivessel coronary disease. It found that multiarterial grafting is associated with fewer adverse events, improved survival, and reduced hospital readmissions for appropriate patients.

Summary: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) improves survival in heart failure patients with severely reduced left ventricular systolic function (LVEF). However, little is known about adverse cardiovascular events after CABG in patients with heart failure with midrange ejection fraction (HFmrEF; LVEF > 40% and < 55%). In this study, data from the Veterans Affairs national database were analyzed to compare mortality and heart failure hospitalization rates among different patient groups.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the potential of F-18-sodium fluoride (F-18-NaF) positron emission tomography (PET) in identifying graft vasculopathy and to examine the impact of coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery on the activity and progression of native coronary artery disease.

Summary: Compared with coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), hybrid coronary revascularization (HCR) has a slightly higher short-term mortality but the difference is not significant in patients with multi-vessel coronary artery disease (MCAD). Similar rates of mid-term survival and other short-term post-operative complications were found between the two groups. HCR has shorter intensive care unit stays and reduced requirement for blood transfusion.

Summary: This study evaluated whether interhospital variation in mortality rates for coronary artery bypass grafting was driven by complications and failure to rescue. The study found a positive correlation between hospital failure to rescue rates and complications, suggesting that early recognition and management of complications are important factors in improving the success of coronary artery bypass grafting.

Summary: This study conducted a two-stage meta-analysis using reconstructed individual patient data to compare long-term mortality between coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for patients with multivessel disease (MVD) without left main (LM) involvement. The results showed that CABG had a lower cumulative all-cause mortality compared to PCI for MVD patients without LM involvement. However, in patients with moderate to high SYNTAX score, PCI had a significantly higher 10-year all-cause mortality compared to CABG.
