Summary: The research found that in solvent-based zinc-rich epoxy composite coatings, a small load (e.g., 0.5 wt%) of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) can be used to replace a large amount (e.g., 20-30 wt%) of zinc dust (ZD) to maintain similar corrosion resistance and enhance the adhesion/wear resistance of the coatings simultaneously.

Summary: We propose a new method for modifying silicones containing silanol groups through postsynthesis. Trimethylborate is found to be an effective catalyst for dehydrative condensation of silanol groups, leading to the formation of ladder-like blocks. By applying this approach to different polymeric structures, we were able to significantly enhance the mechanical properties of the starting polymer.

Summary: In the heavy-duty vehicle industry, intermittent demand for spare parts is common and poses challenges to demand forecasting by conventional models. Research shows that an adaptive univariate SVM model has a significant advantage in computation time over other models and can effectively predict intermittent demand.

Summary: The wide use of Titanium and its alloys as biomaterial is due to their excellent mechanical properties and chemical stability, good corrosion resistance and biocompatibility. However, their limitations such as poor biological activity and high surface potential for bacterial colonization can be overcome by modifying them with a hybrid coating that includes calcium phosphate phase for bioactive functionality and Ag-NPs for antibacterial functionality. The modified substrates showed excellent antibacterial ability, good cytocompatibility, and proper environments for the integration with bone tissue.

Summary: A solid-phase extraction resin SIRs-P227/XAD-7HP was prepared by impregnating extractant P227 onto macroporous resin XAD-7HP beads. The resin was characterized and studied for adsorption kinetics, particle size effect, adsorption isotherm, pH- lg D relationship, desorption, adsorption selectivity for heavy rare earths, and impurity ions. The experimental results showed good adsorption kinetics for Lu(III) and decreased adsorbance with increasing particle size.

Summary: This study presents a bottom-up strategy of introducing heteroatoms into CFRTP/metal interfaces to reconstruct the interfacial chemical structures and manufacture high-reliability hybrid structures. By introducing oxygen and hydrogen heteroatoms through simple and green plasma polymerization, the joint strength of CFRTP/6061 hybrid structures is strengthened from 8.82 to 23.97 MPa. This heteroatom introduction strategy provides fresh insights into interfacial design concepts and has important implications for the future application of high-reliability CFRTP/metal hybrid structures.

Summary: In this paper, a hierarchical energy management strategy is proposed to comprehensively consider the coupling effect between the top-level power distribution among different system clusters and the bottom-level power distribution within each system cluster. The proposed strategy guarantees the collaborative performance enhancement for fuel cell based heavy-duty hybrid power system through accurate energy consumption modeling. The effectiveness and practicability of the proposed strategy are verified by three assessment cases based on hardware-in-the-loop simulation.

Summary: Chemerin plays a key role in brown adipocyte differentiation and energy metabolism through brown adipose tissue thermogenesis. Knocking down chemerin mRNA results in decreased brown adipocyte differentiation and reduced fatty acid uptake, leading to increased fat deposition and obesity in mice. Chem(-/-) mice also develop insulin resistance and exhibit altered metabolic parameters such as decreased oxygen consumption and body temperature compared to wild-type mice.

Summary: GIPC1 is a protein that interacts with SR-B1, stabilizes SR-B1 by negative regulation of its degradation pathways, and affects hepatic lipid and cholesterol metabolism. There is a positive correlation between GIPC1 and SR-B1 expression, and both are inversely correlated with body mass index (BMI) in human liver samples.
