Summary: Magnesium (Mg2+) is crucial for photosynthesis in plants and algae, and its concentration in chloroplasts is tightly regulated by transport proteins. This study identifies three different transporters and investigates their roles in maintaining chloroplast Mg2+ homeostasis and regulating photosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana and Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. The findings reveal essential but differential roles of these transporters in chloroplast Mg2+ homeostasis and highlight their conservation across plant species.

Summary: Carotenoids, including lutein and beta-carotene, were found in yellow celery cultivars, with their contents gradually decreasing during growth and development. 'Huangtaiji' and 'Liuhehuangxinqin' showed the highest levels of lutein and beta-carotene at specific growth stages. Expression levels of AgLCYB and AgPSY2 genes were correlated with carotenoid contents, providing insights for cultivating yellow celery with high carotenoid levels.

Summary: This study compared the microencapsulation properties of beta-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin, and fish oil using different drying techniques. The results showed that microfluidic-jet spray drying (MFJSD) technique produced microcapsules with higher efficiency, density, and flowability compared to two-fluid nozzle spray drying (SD) and freeze-drying (FD). Additionally, MFJSD microcapsules showed better retention of carotenoids and omega-3 LC-PUFAs after storage and digestion trials, indicating a promising method for delivering beneficial compounds in microencapsulation and functional food development.

Src-mediated phosphorylation of the nAChR alpha 4 subunit at Y575 by 14-3-3 eta is required for endocytosis, with assistance from beta-arrestin1 and GRK2. Endocytosis leads to ubiquitination and down-regulation of alpha 4 beta 2 nAChRs.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of different erucic acid (EA) and glucosinolates (GLSs) content, as well as different degumming methods, on the volatile flavor profiles of fragrant rapeseed oil (FRO). A total of 171 volatile compounds were identified, with 87 compounds identified as key odorants. Methyl furfuryl disulfide was identified for the first time in rapeseed oil, with the highest odor activity values (up to 26805.46). The GLSs content had a greater impact on the volatile flavor profile of rapeseed oil compared to EA content. Rapeseed varieties with low EA and high GLSs were found to be suitable for FRO production. Silicon dioxide adsorption was an effective alternative to water degumming in FRO production. This study provides new insights for selecting raw materials and degumming methods in FRO production.

Summary: Water degumming and silicon dioxide (SiO2) adsorption are common methods for removing phospholipids from edible oils, but they have poor effectiveness on okra seed oil. This study optimized the SiO2 adsorption process in water-degummed okra seed oil and compared the quality and flavor changes before and after degumming. The results showed that the optimal degumming procedure achieved a 43.3% removal rate of non-hydrated phospholipids by adding 1.43% SiO2 to the oil and stirring at 33.52 degrees C for 30.47 minutes.
