Summary: The study observed a causal relationship between higher educational attainment and increased total alcohol consumption, especially with red wine, as well as a reduction in beer/cider and spirits. It also found that higher education was associated with more frequent drinking and a higher likelihood of drinking with meals.

Summary: Using geocode data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth, this study examines the impact of business dynamism on location decisions of labor force participants and explores how this impact differs between highly and less educated individuals. The findings reveal that increased business dynamism leads to a higher likelihood of college graduates choosing metropolitan areas, while it decreases the probability for high school graduates without college experience. These results highlight the declining responsiveness to local labor market conditions and suggest that promoting job creation alone may not be sufficient to counteract the trend of decreasing internal migration in the United States.

Summary: This study examines the interaction between corruption levels in origin and destination countries and migrants' level of education. The results confirm that countries with lower corruption levels attract more migrants, and migrants with higher levels of education are more likely to choose countries with lower corruption levels.

Summary: This empirical study examines the relationship between natural resource abundance and educational attainment using data from Chilean municipalities. The findings suggest that higher natural resource exports are associated with lower educational attainment, primarily due to fewer enrollments in tertiary education by young people. These results highlight the potentially detrimental effect of natural resource abundance on long-term human capital accumulation.

Summary: There is no strong evidence to suggest a significant association between type 1 diabetes and educational outcomes. However, the level of blood glucose control (HbA(1c)) is related to academic achievements.

Summary: This study examined the impact of remittance inflows on educational attainment, taking into account the interaction effect of social infrastructure. The researchers used the Sys-GMM technique to analyze data from 69 countries between 1995 and 2019, using a 5-year non-overlapping average. The findings revealed that remittances and income have a negative effect on educational attainment in low- and middle-income countries, while social infrastructure, government expenditures on education, and institutional quality have a positive effect. Furthermore, the study found that remittances in conjunction with better social infrastructure facilitate educational attainment, suggesting the need for alternative social infrastructure development strategies to maximize the benefits of remittances.

Summary: This study highlights key issues to consider in creating a college-going culture, including the complexity of urban school systems, limited traditional parental involvement, and issues of self-acceptance among youth. Results indicate that an educational environment that values students' and families' Community Cultural Wealth can increase student matriculation through the educational pipeline.

Summary: The study found that polygenic scores for smoking and educational attainment impact academic adjustment in adolescence and educational attainment in adulthood, partly influenced by genetic factors. It was also discovered that the smoking PGS mainly reflects general behavioral disinhibition, while the educational attainment PGS affects adult educational attainment through academic performance in adolescence.

Summary: This paper analyzes the determining factors of South to Center-North migration flows in Italy for five different educational groups. It finds strong support for the paramount role of total and education-specific migration networks, as well as an inverse relationship between the magnitude of the response of migration flows by educational level and the regional endowment of human capital. It also reveals that once migrants' educational attainment is explicitly considered, the reaction of migration flows is highly heterogeneous with respect to the push and pull factors that usually determine them, a finding not yet documented in the economics of migration literature.

Summary: This paper presents new evidence that parental incarceration increases children's education. The study collects criminal records of 90,000 low-income parents convicted of a crime in Colombia and links it to the educational attainment of their children. The findings indicate that on the margin of incarceration, parental imprisonment increases educational attainment by 0.78 years for the children of convicted parents.

Summary: Educational quality may be a stronger predictor of physical health than educational attainment. This study found that a performance-based measure of educational quality was associated with cardiometabolic health, even after controlling for educational attainment, demographic factors, and fluid intelligence. However, perceived control, executive function, and health literacy did not significantly mediate the association between educational quality and cardiometabolic health.
