Summary: This study investigated the effects of vericiguat compared with placebo on health status outcomes in heart failure patients. The Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire was used to measure the outcomes. The results showed that vericiguat did not significantly improve the KCCQ scores compared with placebo. However, vericiguat reduced the risk of cardiovascular death or heart failure hospitalization across the range of baseline health status.

Summary: This secondary analysis of the EMPEROR-Reduced trial found that empagliflozin improved the risk of cardiovascular death or heart failure hospitalization across a range of baseline health statuses. The benefits of empagliflozin in improving health status were sustained during long-term follow-up.

Summary: This study found that three physical frailty scales were significantly associated with death, hospitalization, and reduced health-related quality of life in ambulatory patients with heart failure. Therefore, questionnaire or performance-based physical frailty scales can be used to offer prognostic value and a therapeutic target in this vulnerable population.

Summary: The study aimed to compare personalized pacemaker reprogramming with usual care on echocardiographic and patient-oriented outcomes. Results showed that personalized programming reduced RV pacing, improved LV function and size, and extended battery longevity, with no impact on quality of life.

Summary: There are significant differences in HRQL among patients with HF in different regions, with lower HRQL being associated with adverse outcomes. Lower HRQL is a strong and independent predictor of all-cause death and HF hospitalization across all geographic regions worldwide.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of Empagliflozin on health-related quality of life in patients with heart failure and preserved ejection fraction. The results showed that Empagliflozin reduced the risk of major heart failure outcomes and improved health-related quality of life. The effects were consistent across different levels of baseline health status.

Summary: Subjective cognitive difficulties are common among sarcoidosis patients. More frequent cognitive difficulties and more severe fatigue are associated with worse mental health-related quality of life (HRQOL), while the association between cognitive difficulties and physical HRQOL is not significant. More severe fatigue, joint involvement, and reduced forced vital capacity (FVC) are associated with worse physical HRQOL, while higher income and higher education are associated with better physical HRQOL.

Summary: The study aimed to assess the long-term effect of comprehensive vasodilation strategy versus usual care on health-related quality of life among patients with acute heart failure. Results showed significant improvements in HRQL quantified by EQ-5D and KCCQ within 180 days of follow-up, with no significant differences between the two treatment strategies.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the predictive value of quality of life (QoL) on outcomes in adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD) and heart failure (HF). The study results showed that patients with poor QoL experience severe events more frequently, thus highlighting the importance of evaluating QoL and implementing rehabilitation programs to alter their trajectory.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the health-related quality of life and associated factors among adult heart failure patients in southern Ethiopia hospitals. The study revealed that age and gender of participants, family size, occupation, residency, admission history, salt intake, and NYHA class were significant factors influencing the HRQoL of patients with heart failure. Overall, patients with heart failure had a low HRQoL.

Summary: REACH-HF is a home-based cardiac rehabilitation intervention for patients with chronic heart failure and their caregivers. A pooled analysis of patients aged over 18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of HF recruited from two REACH-HF trials showed that compared to the control group, the REACH-HF group had a greater improvement in their disease-specific health-related quality of life at follow-up.
