Summary: The research examined the reasons behind the creation of PMJDY bank accounts and the impact of families' socioeconomic factors on multidimensional poverty. Logistic regression analysis on a sample of 300 families in the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar found that gender, education level, and PMJDY accounts significantly influenced multidimensional poverty. Low education, especially among women, increased the likelihood of multidimensional poverty, while PMJDY account users were less likely to be poor compared to non-PMJDY users in the district. It was also found that financial literacy played a crucial role in this context. Clarifying misconceptions about government programs, ensuring financial inclusion for women, and connecting people to PMJDY were identified as key factors for the success of this program.

Summary: The National Health Policy 2017 recommended the establishment of health and wellness centres (HWC) as the primary platform to deliver comprehensive primary health care in India. This study examines the cost implications of scaling up HWCs in Gujarat and finds that although costs have increased after conversion, there has been a significant increase in outpatient department (OPD) footfalls, resulting in lower costs per OPD visit. The study estimates the total costs for running 1,500 HWCs in the year 2020-2021 and suggests that further research is needed to confirm these findings.
