Two recent large-cohort studies have shown the potential predictive capability of gut microbiota for immune-checkpoint inhibitor response and toxicities in patients with melanoma. However, further investigations are needed to understand the mechanistic underpinnings of this complex relationship and how it can be utilized for personalized cancer care.
