Summary: 8YSZ precursor was synthesized by co-precipitation using ammonia as the precipitant. The effects of calcination temperature on the phase, morphology, and dispersity of 8YSZ nanopowders were investigated. It was found that 8YSZ nanopowders calcined at 800°C showed the best sinterability, with a mean particle size of 14.5 nm. 8YSZ ceramics were fabricated through air pre-sintering at 1250-1325°C followed by HIP post-treatment at 1550°C. The microstructure and optical transparency of 8YSZ ceramics were studied, and it was found that ceramics pre-sintered at 1300°C exhibited a suitable microstructure. The HIP post-treatment temperature was successfully reduced by 200°C compared to previous works. The in-line transmittance of 8YSZ ceramics (1.0 mm thickness) reached 65.7% at 800 nm, with an average grain size of 25μm.

Summary: Undoped and Sr2+ doped BaZrO3 ceramics were prepared by solid-state reaction, and their phase composition and microstructure were studied. The results showed that appropriate Sr2+ doping improved the Q x f value and density of BaZrO3 ceramics, as well as increased the dielectric constant. Under specific doping conditions, the obtained material exhibited excellent microwave dielectric properties and showed potential as an antenna medium material.

Summary: In this study, we demonstrate the remarkable efficacy of yttria-stabilized zirconia nano-adsorbents for toxic azo-dye removal. The adsorption capacity achieved was 550mg/g, which was attributed to factors such as nano-sized particles, phase-pure cubicity, and increased surface area, leading to the generation of oxygen vacancies on the synthesized doped-zirconia surfaces.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of mechanically induced dislocations on the electrical conductivity and oxygen transport in YSZ. Distinctly aligned regions with abundant and deficient dislocations are generated using advanced mechanical deformation methods. Electrical characterization reveals highly conducting effects of dislocation-induced strain within the material. Targeted oxygen tracer diffusion experiments confirm the enrichment of oxygen incorporation within the dislocation bundles. Therefore, mechanically induced dislocations have the potential to serve as a design element for tuning bulk ionic transport in YSZ.

The mechanical properties and thermal stability of the coatings were examined through various tests and analyses. Results showed that the addition of nano TiO2 improved water absorption property and preserved mechanical properties. However, the presence of nanoclay reduced the protection property of the pure gelcoat. Statistical analysis confirmed the significance of the experimental results.

Summary: This study used unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to investigate ancient water collection and storage systems near the Karahantepe Neolithic Site. The use of digital elevation models (DEMs) allowed for the examination of cisterns, pools, and channels in the region. Hydrological analysis provided a comprehensive understanding of water flow patterns. The findings suggested that the channels leading to cisterns followed a meandering slope and culminated in pools, possibly serving as sedimentation ponds. The study highlighted the benefits of utilizing UAV technology in archaeology and inferred that the water collection and storage system in the region was intentionally constructed by ancient civilizations.
