Summary: Two types of p-block indium single-atom catalysts exhibit excellent performance in electrochemical CO2 reduction, with the In-N-3-V site achieving the maximum CO Faradic efficiency in an aqueous medium. The structural change from In-N-4 to In-N-3-V brings the In orbital energies closer to the Fermi energy, lowering the energy barrier for COOH* intermediate formation and enhancing catalytic performance.

Summary: In this paper, non-metallic elements doped ZrO2 photocatalysts were designed and further loaded with single-atom Pt based on first-principles. The relationship between the composition and performance of photocatalysts during doping and loading of single-atom was explained through electronic properties, and their photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance was explored. Loading and doping had a synergistic effect on the modification of ZrO2, and doping effectively improved its catalytic performance.

Summary: In this study, a S-scheme heterojunction photocatalyst was designed to enhance the efficiency and selectivity of CO2 photoreduction. The S-scheme heterojunction accelerated charge migration and inhibited electron-hole recombination, leading to improved catalytic performance. The optimized electron interaction and CO2 activation on the active sites of Cu single atom in the heterojunction contributed to the high yield and selectivity of CH4 formation.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of introducing S or P atoms into N coordination on the electronic structure and catalytic performance of FeN4 SACs. It demonstrates that FePN3 can effectively activate O-2 and promote ORR, while FeSN3 is beneficial to H2O activation and OER. Both FePN3 and FeSN3 exhibit outstanding stability. The N,P and N,S co-coordination provides a better catalytic environment for SACs in ORR and OER.

Summary: Single-atom catalysts, which combine the advantages of homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, are widely used in various catalysis applications. The development of new support materials is crucial for achieving superior catalytic performance. In this research, carbon nanofibers synthesized from the reaction between P2O5 and NMP are reported. These carbon nanofibers have -P(sic)N- units, which serve as anchoring sites for single-atom catalysts. The Pt atoms anchored on the carbon nanofibers exhibit high activity for hydrosilylation. This research not only provides a new chemical strategy for synthesizing doped carbon nanofibers, but also presents a potential superior support material in catalysis.

Summary: A straightforward synthesis of the first peraryl diboriranide was reported, demonstrating its preference for s-type coordination modes towards main group and transition metal centers. The synthesis involved the preparation of the non-classical diborirane from a readily available 1,2-dichlorodiborane(4) and subsequent conversion to the peraryl diboriranide lithium salt in three steps. Representative complexes with tin, copper, gold, and zinc were prepared and characterized to illustrate the reactivity and complexation behavior of the diboriranide.

Summary: The coordination atoms of single-atom catalysts (SACs) play a critical role in regulating the catalytic performance. By constructing two kinds of Ni-based coordination polymers with atomically dispersed Ni-N4 and Ni-N2O2 sites, it was found that the Ni-N2O2 catalyst exhibited a high H2O2 production rate of 374 mmol gcat -1 h-1 with an excellent selectivity of 91%, while the selectivity on the Ni-N4 catalyst was only 60%, demonstrating a coordination atoms-dependent performance. Experimental and theoretical investigations revealed that introducing O atoms in the first coordination sphere could optimize the energy barriers for the formation of key intermediates, contributing to the efficient regulation of selectivity and activity in the 2e- oxygen reduction reaction.

Summary: Soil metabolomics and metagenome sequencing were used to investigate the salt-stress response in peanuts intercropped with sorghum. The study found that carbohydrate metabolism was the most differentially expressed pathway, with certain metabolites more abundant in intercropped peanuts under salt stress. In addition, there was a higher abundance of specific microbial taxa in intercropped peanuts under salt stress. These findings suggest that intercropping can indirectly influence beneficial microbial communities and potentially enhance peanut's salt tolerance.

Summary: In this paper, the photonic spin Hall effect (PSHE) in the combined structure of periodic dielectric waveguides (PDWs) and photonic crystal waveguide (PCW) is discussed. The arbitrary manipulation of PSHE for the PDW guided mode in the structure is successfully achieved by controlling the polarization of the dipole source. The advantage of PDW is its ability to be designed to different shapes without geometric constraints, while maintaining a relatively high transmission rate. By further changing the structure, including the adjustment of the intersection angle between PDW and PCW, and the alteration of the straight PDW to the bending or bifurcated shapes, it is found that the output of highly unidirectional PSHE is mainly determined by the intersection angle between PDW and PCW and almost independent of the detailed shape of PDW.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the physiological mechanism of exogenous auxin (IAA) promoting mesocotyl elongation in sorghum. The results showed that exogenous IAA significantly increased cell length and promoted mesocotyl elongation in the short mesocotyl inbred line MS24B, while the application of the IAA inhibitor NPA resulted in a significant decrease in mesocotyl length. In the long mesocotyl inbred line Z210, exogenous IAA had a slight effect on mesocotyl elongation, while NPA treatment considerably reduced mesocotyl length. Overall, exogenous IAA activated energy metabolism, leading to plasma membrane acidification and mesocotyl elongation.

Summary: This paper discusses the commodification of Tibetan Mastiffs and the care relationship between humans and dogs. Tibetan pastoralists and dogs have a reciprocal yet distanced care relationship, while breeders of Tibetan Mastiffs focus on their ferociousness, resulting in a more dedicated but unilateral and dangerous care approach. The unintended consequence of breeders' care is that they raise dogs that sometimes bite, due to the transformation of dogs' guarding abilities from ethical virtue to commercial value.
