With the rapid growth of nanomedicine research, subcellular-delivery nanosystems (SDNSs) have become a research focus in the field of cancer treatment. Nuclear-targeted SDNSs, which deliver therapeutic agents and assist various treatment methods, may have the potential for precise cancer treatment. This review summarizes the latest progress of nuclear-targeted SDNSs for cancer treatment, discusses the possible mechanisms of SDNSs entering the nucleus, its applications in cancer treatment, and highlights the promising future of SDNSs.
With the exponential growth of nanomedicine research, subcellular-delivery nanosystems (SDNSs) has rapidly become a research focus, which suggests that the idea of curing cancer may not be a pipe dream. As the center of genetic material storage, replication, and transcription, the nucleus can be regarded as the final target of many cancer treatment methods. Thus, nuclear-targeted SDNSs may have clinical potential for precise cancer treatment by delivering therapeutic agents and assisting various treatment methods. Herein, the latest progress of nucleartargeted SDNSs for cancer treatment are reviewed and listed. Additionally, the possible mechanisms of SDNSs entering the nucleus and its applications in the field of cancer treatment as well as some typical preparations are summarized and the exciting future of SDNSs is also briefly highlighted.
