Summary: In this study, it was found that Bortezomib (Bor) can inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in malignant mesothelioma (MM) cells. Bor reduces the sensitivity of cells to the drug's cytotoxic effects by activating the Unfolded Protein Response. In in vivo experiments in mice, Bor can suppress MM growth, extend survival, and increase activation of T lymphocytes in the tumor microenvironment.

Summary: The study showed that cytotoxic extracts produced by marine bacteria recovered from the Brazilian endemic ascidian Euherdmania sp. have potential as proteasome inhibitors, with the extract from marine Streptomyces sp. BRA-346 displaying potent proteasome inhibitory activity. Both the extract and its dihydroeponemycin compound exhibited high cytotoxicity in glioma cell lines, suggesting potential for further development in targeted cancer therapy.

Summary: Oral mucosal melanomas (OMM) are aggressive cancers in dogs and useful models for human OMM. This study found that a combined treatment of aCT1 peptide and BBI significantly decreased cell viability in canine melanoma cells by increasing Cx43 expression and affecting its migration to the cell membrane. This dual treatment approach may lead to new effective therapies for canine OMM.
