Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of suicide planning and attempt among individuals with suicidal ideation, as well as their associations with sociodemographic characteristics, mental disorders, adverse childhood events, and prior suicidal behavior. The results showed that the prevalence of suicide planning and attempt were 17.7% and 10.6% respectively, with over 80% occurring within a year of the suicidal ideation. Suicide planning was more likely among those with mood disorders, while suicide attempt was more likely for those who were currently married, had lower educational qualifications, history of anxiety disorders, history of emotional neglect, and parental separation.

Summary: Current research emphasizes the significance of personality pathology and Major Depression as essential psychopathological risk factors influencing suicidal risk in adolescence. While previous studies have predominantly focused on Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), this study highlights the potential contributions of other specific personality disorders and personality pathology to suicidality. The findings suggest that both categorical and dimensional diagnosis of personality disorders, along with Major Depression, play a crucial role in influencing suicidal behaviors and their severity in adolescents.

Summary: This study aimed to identify risk factors associated with suicide attempts within 30 days among U.S. Army soldiers diagnosed with major depression and no prior suicide ideation. The study found that soldiers with lower education, combat medics, bipolar disorder, traumatic stress, and other mental disorders diagnosed on the same day as major depression, as well as alcohol use disorder and somatoform/dissociative disorders diagnosed before major depression, were more likely to attempt suicide within 30 days.

Summary: This study investigated the association between specific domains of alcohol use and suicide-related outcomes. The findings suggest a linear association between total alcohol use score and suicide attempt, suicidal thoughts, and non-suicidal self-harm. Specific domains such as dependence symptoms, harmful effects of drinking, and binge drinking were associated with increased odds of all three outcomes.

Summary: This exploratory study investigated the association between the age of onset of bipolar I disorder and the threshold for UVB sufficient for vitamin D production. The results showed that the age of onset at locations with UVB threshold below the threshold was 1.66 years younger than those with UVB threshold equal to or above the threshold. The conclusion suggests that UVB and vitamin D may play an important role in the development of bipolar disorder.
