Summary: The aim of this study was to measure the prevalence of suicidal ideation and attempts among street-involved youth in southern Brazil and identify associated factors. The results showed a prevalence of suicide attempts at 16.3% and a frequency of suicidal ideation at 30.9%. Factors independently associated with suicide attempts included age (19-21 years old), reduced ties with school and family, experience of sexual abuse, and lifetime use of crack. Strengthening the ties between street-involved youth and school and family through public policies could help reduce their vulnerability to threats like sexual abuse and drug use, ultimately decreasing suicide attempts.

Summary: The study found that around 16.4% of adolescents reported suicide ideation, while nearly 10% of adolescents had attempted suicide. Disinhibition was identified as a predictor for escalation from suicide ideation to attempts, while higher academic performance was associated with lower suicide attempt risk. Depression and victimization were also found to be associated with suicide ideation.

Summary: This study examined the relationship between dietary behaviors and suicidal behaviors in Korean adolescents, with a focus on the differences in this relationship among children of immigrant parents. The findings suggest that unfavorable dietary behaviors, such as skipping meals and consuming unhealthy foods, are associated with a higher likelihood of suicidal behaviors. This association appears to be more prominent in adolescents with immigrant parents.

Summary: This study examined the association between self-reported sports- or physical activity-related concussion and symptoms of depression and suicidal behaviors among U.S. students. The results showed that students who experienced sports- or physical activity-related concussions were more likely to have symptoms of depression, suicidal ideation, making a suicide plan, and suicide attempts compared to other students. These findings highlight the increased risk of adverse mental health outcomes among students with sports- or physical activity-related concussions and suggest the need for resources to monitor and support student emotional well-being.

Summary: The study found that exposure to suicide cluster-related social media is associated with both suicidal ideation (SI) and suicide attempts (SA) during a youth suicide cluster, especially among students without a previous history of SI/SA. Efforts to mitigate potential negative effects of social media and promote prevention messages could benefit suicide interventions.
