Summary: Virtual care is crucial for VHA's effort in expanding veterans' access to care, and research on refining virtual care delivery models is needed. A Think Tank convened in December 2019 to address challenges in virtual care research and practice, discuss novel approaches, and develop priorities to enhance virtual care in VHA. The Think Tank identified four key priorities: scaling evidence-based practices, centralizing virtual care, creating high-value care within VHA with virtual care, and identifying appropriate patients for virtual care.

Summary: Most ACOs do not fully implement all collaborative care components, with the majority using care managers and consulting mental health clinicians, but fewer utilizing patient registries. ACOs responsible for mental health care quality measures are more likely to implement collaborative care, indicating the potential impact of payment contracts on encouraging this cost-effective model.

Summary: Red blood cells (RBCs) are abundant cells in the body with unique biological and physical properties. Due to their low immunogenicity, long-circulating cycle, and immune characteristics, RBCs have shown great potential as delivery vehicles. This article compares the physiological and physical characteristics of RBCs, analyzes their advantages in delivery systems, and summarizes their applications in biomedicine.

Summary: The Mars 2020 mission successfully landed the Perseverance rover in the hazardous Jezero Crater using a novel terrain relative navigation system. This system identified landing hazards using orbital imagery and then estimated the rover's position using landmarks matched between descent imagery and a hazard map. Postflight analysis showed that all required systems worked better than predicted, with the fully autonomous system generating position estimates with minimal error. This paper provides a detailed description of the design, testing, and performance of the terrain relative navigation system.

Summary: Last-mile logistics is the least efficient stage of supply chains, accounting for up to 28% of the total delivery cost, while crowd logistics is a new strategy that entrusts the last-mile delivery management to ordinary people. The study assessed the implementation potential of crowd logistics in northern Italy through a questionnaire, revealing high interest among respondents in this emerging delivery system.

Summary: The implementation of health policies can have a significant impact on population health outcomes, but variations in implementation can limit effectiveness. Strengthening research in health policy implementation science can help reduce time lag, improve health equity, and build evidence for effective policy implementation.

Summary: In this study, the potential of graphyne as a carrier for the anticancer drug daunorubicin was explored using Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations. The research revealed the presence of weak interactions between daunorubicin and the graphyne carrier, as well as the charge transfer process from daunorubicin to graphyne during complex formation. Additionally, the study indicated a red-shift in the excited-state spectra of the daunorubicin-graphyne complex, suggesting potential fluorescence-quenching effects.

Summary: The study developed a composite drug delivery system using nanoparticles and hyaluronan hydrogel, which can reduce the dosing frequency for intravitreal injections. The system showed sustained release of the model drug for over two months, with potential to be a better treatment option for ocular neovascular diseases like wet AMD.

Summary: 5-FU loaded sodium alginate/konjac glucomannan (SA/KGM) and sodium alginate/konjac glucomannan/attapulgite (SA/KGM/ATP) microbeads were successfully prepared by an injection method. Several characterization techniques were used to analyze the microbeads, and encapsulation efficiency, swelling, and in vitro drug release studies were conducted. The results showed that the addition of ATP improved the encapsulation efficiency of the model drug and reduced burst release. The in vitro release kinetics supported Ritger-Peppas models, suggesting that the drug transport mechanism was controlled by Fickian diffusion. The prepared SA/KGM/ATP microbeads have potential applications in drug delivery systems.

Summary: Polysaccharide-based magnetic nanocomposites, specifically the CH/MCNW/5FU nanocomposites, showed promising properties as carriers for anticancer drugs, including successful fabrication, multifunctionality, desired physical characteristics, high drug encapsulation efficiency, pH-dependent drug release performance, and potent killing effects on colorectal cancer cells in both 2D monolayer and 3D spheroid models. These findings suggest that CH/MCNW has the potential to serve as an effective carrier for anticancer drugs with high tumor-penetrating capacity.
