Summary: Pelvic organ prolapse affects one in three women, with cystocele accounting for 80% of the indications for surgery. This study compared the outcomes of anterior sacrospinous ligament fixation with suturing to the previous reference technique (Uphold (TM) mesh insertion) in terms of the early recurrence of prolapse, peroperative or post-operative complications, and the development of de novo stress urinary incontinence. The results showed that anterior sacrospinous ligament fixation had a slightly higher early failure rate but lower prevalence of acute urinary retention and de novo stress urinary incontinence compared to Uphold (TM) mesh insertion, suggesting it is an effective and safe alternative method.

Summary: This study evaluated the rates of serious complications and reoperation for recurrence following sacrospinous ligament fixation (SSLF) for apical pelvic organ prolapse. The results showed that SSLF is an effective and safe surgical treatment, with comparable safety profiles for different surgical approaches and materials. However, the anterior approach and the use of mesh were associated with a lower risk of reoperation for recurrence compared with the posterior approach and the use of native tissue.

Summary: This study evaluated the mechanical properties of zirconia fabricated using additive manufacturing technology compared to subtractive manufacturing technology. The results showed that the additive manufacturing group had lower flexural strength values compared to the subtractive manufacturing group. However, air-abrasion surface treatment increased the flexural strength in both groups. The study also found that the surface roughness increased only in the additive manufacturing group after air-abrasion treatment.
