Summary: The new genus Morinagamyces was introduced to accommodate the fungus Apiosordaria vermicularis, and a new depsipeptide named morinagadepsin (1) and the known chaetone B (3) were isolated from Morinagamyces vermicularis. Compound 1 showed cytotoxic activity against mammalian cell lines, while compound 2 was inactive. Compound 3 exhibited weak cytotoxic activity against the L929 cell line.

Summary: The study analyzed the secondary metabolites of Triangularia mangenotti, isolating various compounds with antimicrobial activity. The introduction of the new genus Pseudorhypophila accommodates multiple related species, suggesting the potential of this fungal order as producers of bioactive compounds.

Summary: A microsporidian parasite infecting the pheasantshell mussel, Actinonaiais pectorosa, was discovered in a freshwater system in the USA. The taxonomic account of this species was completed based on ecological, environmental, histological, electron microscopy, and genetic data, leading to the establishment of a new genus called Knowlespora.

Summary: Researchers provide evidence that freshwater Thelohania, parasites infecting crayfish, are genetically distinct from marine Thelohania. They also propose transferring the freshwater Thelohania to a new genus, Astathelohania, and a new family, Astathelohaniidae. Two new species have been described, expanding the understanding of this genus which can be found in North America, Europe, and Australia.

Summary: The poorly known genus Immotthia has only two accepted species, and a new species, Immotthia bambusae, was discovered during research in southwest China and Thailand. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that Immotthia belongs to Dictyosporiaceae, while a new monotypic genus, Pseudocyclothyriella, is closely related to Immotthia.

Summary: Examination of fungal specimens collected in the Atlantic rain forest ecosystems of Northeast Brazil revealed many potentially new species of Glomeromycota, with two closely related fungi forming glomerocarps. Phylogenetic analyses indicated that these two fungi represent two divergent undescribed species in the family Glomeraceae, with one placed in the genus Dominikia and the other in a sister clade to the genus Kamienskia.

Summary: This study reveals the differences in sensitivity to high hydrogen partial pressure between two closely related members of the family Treponemataceae and explains the metabolic mechanisms behind these differences through comparative genome analysis. Additionally, a new strain is identified, and the metabolic and genomic differences with other strains are revealed.

Summary: The newly discovered bacterium Muriiphilus fusiformis HY14T, isolated from the wastewater of a pickle-processing factory, demonstrates versatile growth conditions within temperature and pH ranges, with a requirement for moderate salinity. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences and core genome comparisons revealed its genetic relationship with other genera, leading to proposed taxonomic classification.

Summary: The genus Clostridium is diverse and includes species like C. cocleatum, C. ramosum, C. spiroforme, and C. saccharogumia. These species form a distinct cluster within the family Coprobacillaceae in the order Erysipelotrichales. Based on phylogenetic, genomic, phenotypic, and chemotaxonomic information, it is proposed that these species be transferred to a new genus called Thomasclavelia.

Summary: This study presents two strains affiliated with the GKS98 cluster. Phylogenetic analysis suggests that these strains are closely related to the family Alcaligenaceae and previously described species Orrella amnicola and Orrella marina. Based on the phylogenomic trees and other characteristics, the authors propose the establishment of new genera Zwartia gen. nov. and Jezberella gen. nov., and the reclassification of Orrella amnicola into the new genus Sheuella gen. nov.

Summary: In this study, phytopathogenic fungi in the order Diaporthales associated with strawberry diseases were reassessed using molecular data and morphological characters, leading to the introduction of new genera and species. The leaf blight pathogen was confirmed to belong in a different family, while a new combination and new species were proposed for the leaf blight fungus and the leaf blotch pathogen respectively. Epitypification and incorporation of fresh collections and new molecular data were also done for a fungus causing petiole blight and root rot of strawberry. An updated multilocus phylogeny for the Diaporthales with representatives of currently known families was provided.
