Summary: This study established a prognostic prediction model for gastric cancer patients based on a metabolism-associated signature and identified the unique role of metabolites in gastric cancer prognosis. The results indicated that purine metabolism and arachidonic acid metabolism play important roles in gastric cancer prognosis. The study highlights the important role of metabolites in the progression of gastric cancer and suggests that newly identified metabolites could be potential biomarkers or therapeutic targets for gastric cancer patients.

Summary: The mucosal microbial community in the stomach is associated with worse overall survival in gastric cancer patients, with the genus Fusobacterium and Prevotella being significantly associated with poor prognosis. The abundance of Fusobacterium nucleatum in tumorous specimens has the strongest negative impact on prognosis.

Summary: Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is the main cause of gastric cancer, but other bacterial species may also play a role. This study found that the mucosal microbial community in the stomach is associated with the prognosis of gastric cancer. The abundance of Fusobacterium and Prevotella is significantly associated with worse overall survival in gastric cancer patients.

Summary: EPHB2 is an upregulated protein tyrosine kinase in gastric cancer that is closely correlated with intestinal stem cell markers and CDX2 expression, and acts as a tumor suppressor in gastric cancer, serving as a prognostic marker in intestinal-type gastric cancer.

Summary: Low serum total cholesterol is associated with higher postoperative complication rate in gastric cancer patients, and decreasing total cholesterol is linked to poor prognosis. Therefore, preoperative total cholesterol can serve as a predictor for postoperative survival and complications in gastric cancer patients.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the effect of high expression of FBLN5 on the prognosis of gastric cancer patients. FBLN5, as a member of the fibrin family, plays an important role in cancer occurrence and development. However, its role in gastric cancer has not been studied before. Through biological information analysis and basic experiments, this study preliminarily explored the influence of FBLN5 on gastric cancer progression and confirmed its potential as a valuable prognostic indicator.

Summary: CircPTPN22 is upregulated in gastric cancer tissues, cells, and plasma, and positively correlated with metastasis. It can serve as a diagnostic marker and predict patient prognosis. CircPTPN22 inhibits cell proliferation and metastasis through competitive binding of miRNAs to regulate the EMT pathway.

Summary: Gastric cancer is the 4th most common and 3rd deadliest cancer worldwide. This study investigated the relationship between GRK3 and gastric cancer prognosis and explored the role of GRK3 in gastric cancer development. The researchers found that GRK3 overexpression was significantly associated with metastasis, TNM stage, and vascular invasion. High GRK3 expression was also linked to shorter disease-free survival and overall survival in patients. Knocking down GRK3 in gastric cancer cells inhibited cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. The findings suggest that GRK3 could potentially serve as a biomarker for gastric cancer prognosis and a target for therapy.

Summary: This study systematically assessed the association between angiogenesis and gastric cancer (GC). The authors identified two molecular subtypes and determined the correlation between angiogenesis-associated genes mutations, clinicopathological characteristics, prognosis, immune cell infiltration, and tumor microenvironment. They established an AAG_score for predicting overall survival (OS) and created a reliable nomogram for clinical viability. The study provides insights into the characteristics of TME and potential immunotherapy strategies in GC.
