Summary: This study explores the attitudes and beliefs of medical and communication and information sciences students participating in an interdisciplinary course. The findings show that students have differences in curriculum content, educational formats, and competence perceptions, which influence their evaluation of themselves, each other, and the interdisciplinary course. Therefore, organizing dialogue among students from different disciplines can raise awareness of inequalities, biases, and the assigned status of different student groups. These results are crucial for tailoring interdisciplinary education and advancing the maturity of interdisciplinary learning.

Summary: This study critically examines the meaning of 'diversity' in multicultural education policy in South Korea from 2006 to 2020, and highlights the paradoxical effects of 'embracing diversity' on minority students with immigrant backgrounds. The study identifies three meanings of diversity - diversity at-risk, productive diversity, and endurable diversity - which categorize multicultural students as objects of conditional acceptance. Drawing on Jacques Derrida's notion of hospitality, the study proposes a more responsible pedagogical approach that challenges power hierarchies associated with the notion of embracing diversity.
